Sam Sulek Discusses Recent Chest Injury and Contrasts Bulking vs. Leaning Diets
In the aftermath of a recent chest injury, Sulek shares insights into his well-being and discusses the differences between bulking and leaning diets.
“Yeah, I’ve had worse ones than this before [injuries], not that I want to have any. But, like I’ve had one it’s typically I’ll never get it like real tendony – like nothing up in the arm, it’s usually kind of deep actual meat.
I’ve had one on the right one, it would kind of go back and forth sometimes now it’s totally solid. But I’ve had one on the right where it’s like I get out of bed wrong when it’s really fresh, fuck it hurt. But this one will be cool.”
Following his recent ‘big bulks,’ Sam Sulek revealed adhering to a diet of 2,500-3,000 calories.
“Honestly, I just have to start doing a bigger breakfast,” said Sulek. “If I don’t get a head start on it for the day it’s not hard to get to so and so time, but I’m not necessarily totally freaking yet because I kind of want to ease into it. The last two big bulks, it’s been, so the diet was like 2 and a half thousand – 3,000 calories, that’s the limit to kind of lean out. Not like show ready or anything like that. But the high one percent, eight or nine.”

Usually, Sulek maintains a 5,000-6,000 calorie diet during bulking phases, but on post-diet days, he acknowledged consuming up to 9,000 calories.
“I’ve been jumping straight to 5,000, 6,000 calories because that first couple of weeks I’m hungry. Honestly, some of the first few days post-diet, I’ve tracked like a 9,000-calorie day like it wasn’t nothing.”
Furthermore, Sulek delved into his ‘egotistical’ approach in the gym and addressed the hateful comments he receives from fans.
“I think we’re getting to a point where there’s just an unnecessary amount of weight. I think if I kept pushing squats, getting up to like six plates, there’s just no point. I think I’m a little too egotistical with the bench. I probably need to stick with three and make better use of it.”
“When I started posting… once you start seeing hate comments that’s directly correlated with like a video doing really good. You almost gotta see it like that. Oh shit people are freaking out, this is a good one,” said Sam Sulek.

From childhood, Sulek noted having ‘enough ADHD’ that enabled him to rapidly acquire diverse skills, such as juggling and solving Rubik’s cubes.
“I feel like I’ve got just enough ADHD, maybe not as much now but as a kid where I could like get into something enough to kind of learn and be cool and then wake up one day and be like this is fuckin stupid I’m done with this. I had like a whole box of little Rubix cubes not just a normal one. I just feel like it was two months ago I ordered one where it’s not three by three, it was 11 by 11.”
Sam Sulek’s strategies for bulking, leaning, and exercise are not new topics of discussion. He asserts the effectiveness of cardio, particularly expressing a preference for the recumbent bike. This choice allows him to monitor progress while staying engaged with phone games, offering a distraction during workouts.
Despite grappling with an injury, Sam Sulek remains committed to regular training, a commitment that fans eagerly anticipate. His consistency and dedication in the face of challenges keep followers intrigued about the next steps in his fitness journey.
