In the domain of CrossFit, the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza Miami signaled the commencement of major competitions this year. Furthermore, starting on January 11th and spanning four days, the event featured Elite Individuals in the first two days. Moreover, with 40 athletes in each division for men and women, they engaged in 5 challenging events.

Additionally, Emma Cary faced an intense journey to victory in the women’s division, securing the title with a 6-point lead. Moreover, in the men’s division, Ricky Garard overcame formidable challenges. 2024 Wodapalooza Miami (5 Events)

Event 1 – Double or Nothin’

Firstly, competitors were tasked with completing the following challenge:

Max Load – 2 Attempts of the following sequence:

  • 1 Snatch + 1 Hang Snatch
  • 45 seconds on | 45 seconds off

*Tiebreaker: Maximum Overhead (OH) Squats

Women’s Results

Julia Hannaford excelled in the initial event, being one of two women who successfully executed a snatch and hang snatch at 195 pounds. Furthermore, the other participant achieving this feat was Dani Speegle. However, Julia secured victory in the tiebreaker, earning the maximum points.

  • Parallel Bar Dips
  • Deadlifts

Followed by: 15-10-5

  • Front Squats
  • Bar Facing Burpees Weights: 185-lb for Deadlifts and Front Squats, 125-lb for Bar Facing Burpees.

Women’s Results

Arielle Loewen emerged as a standout female athlete during the second event of the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza Miami. However, completing the entire workout in an impressive 8 minutes and 10 seconds, she outpaced the next best woman by over 20 seconds.

Thirdly, in Event Three – named “Deja Vu,” athletes faced a three-part challenge:

A (3 min AMRAP):

  • 25/20 Assault Cal Row
  • 30 Wallballs (20, 14lb)

B (5 min AMRAP):

  • 20/14 Strict Chin Over the bar
  • 30 Box Jump Overs (24, 20in)

 C (For Time with an 8-min Cap):

  • 25 Single-Arm Dumbbell Snatch (70, 50lb)

There’s a 1-minute rest between each part, and athletes scored based on:

  1. Total Reps across all parts (Max 50 points)
  2. Time on part C (Max 50 points)

Women’s Results

Emma Carry excelled in the third workout of the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza Miami, securing the top rankings in both parts. Furthermore, with 179 total reps, she was not only the highest scorer but also the fastest to complete Part C.

  • Swim
  • 150 Beaded Double Unders
  • Swim
  • 500m Assault Run

Women’s Results

When swimming components are incorporated into workouts, they often become more intricate. Furthermore, Grace Walton effectively navigated this challenge, securing the maximum points in the fourth event of the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza Miami.

  • 3/2 Rope Climbs (1st rep seated)
  • 18 Toes to Bar
  • 90ft Handstand Walk

Buy-out:

  • 90ft Mixed Grip Kettlebell Lunge (53-lb, 35-lb)

Women’s Results

Danielle Brandon clinched victory in the last event of the 2024 TYR Wodapalooza Miami, clocking just over eight minutes. Meanwhile, an intense duel unfolded between Emma Carry and Gabriela Migala for the title. Also, with a mere three-point difference before the final event, Emma Carry’s 20-second advantage secured her the win in the competition.
