Luke Stoltman disclosed his bicep injury stemming from the 2024 Europe’s Strongest Man victory. Despite the discomfort, he triumphed at the event. The injury persisted into the subsequent 2024 World’s Strongest Man competition. The close timing between events exacerbated Stoltman’s condition.
“Since Europe’s Strongest Man, my tendon in the middle of my arm has not been feeling so good. I kind of thought that it was inflamed and it would just pass by, but it wasn’t getting any better after World’s.”
Throughout his career, Luke Stoltman has avoided significant tears, making this injury unprecedented for him. Fortunately, the bicep did not rupture entirely, offering hope for a complete recovery.
“I’ve never felt this pain before, so fortunately for me, I have never had a severe tear. So I went down to a doctor in London. It was scanned, and it turned out that the bicep tendon is torn. It is not fully detached, which is good news.
I am going to have to take some time off to rehab the bicep tendon, which is a bit unfortunate.”
Luke Stoltman discussed the impact of his bicep injury on his performance at the 2024 World’s Strongest Man. He noted that it affected specific events, like the Car Walk and Frame Medley.
“That is kind of why, at World’s Strongest Man, I felt a lot of pain. Initially when we were doing the familiarization, picking up the sandbag and doing the car walk. It put a lot of pressure on my tendon, and I could just feel that something wasn’t quite right.
I had a frame that I had to pick up, and I couldn’t really grip it with my hand properly. It is normally dominant for my grip, but it just kept opening.”
“The tendon is still intact, but in the middle somewhere is a big hole… The surgeon said if I keep loading my bicep that it will get fully ruptured, basically imminently… Fortunately, there is no operation required, it is just rest.”
Luke Stoltman expects to recover within approximately six weeks, employing various recovery methods like supplementation and hot-cold therapy. However, this timeline means he’ll miss the 2024 Giant Live Strongman Classic competition.
Despite this setback, Stoltman remains optimistic about his prospects for the 2024 Strongest Man On Earth competition. Yet, he plans to make a final decision closer to the event, depending on his bicep’s recovery progress.
“I just messaged Brian regarding the Shaw Classic (2024 Strongest Man On Earth), just telling him that I have this tendon issue, but I think I am going to be ok.”
