On February 22, 2023, Maxime Boudreault announced via an Instagram video that he will not be participating in the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) and the 2023 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) contest due to a broken shin bone that he sustained from a fall on the ice. In the video, Boudreault can be seen in a cast, being pushed in a wheelchair by fellow strongwoman Sam Belliveau, while expressing his optimism in the face of the setback.

The 22nd edition of the Arnold Strongman Classic is set to take place in Columbus, OH, from March 2-5, 2023, while the World’s Strongest Man contest is scheduled for April 19-23, 2023, in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Maxime Boudreault aimed to improve upon his sixth-place finish in the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic, which was won by Martins Licis. Similarly, he finished fifth in the 2022 World’s Strongest Man contest, won by Tom Stoltman. Boudreault had a strong debut in the WSM Final in 2021, ranking third and earning a spot on the podium.
The ASC revealed on February 22, 2023, that Kevin Faires will be stepping in as a replacement for Maxime Boudreault. As a first-time competitor in the Arnold Strongman Classic, Faires is poised to make his debut in the event. Mitchell Hooper, another debutant in the competition, will still represent Canada.
