After securing the ninth spot at the recent Mr. Olympia, Regan Grimes is gearing up for the 2024 season with renewed vigor. In a recent YouTube video, he outlined his goals. Furthermore, Regan Grimes emphasized his intention to compete at the prestigious New York Pro show, focusing on adding more muscle mass to his physique.
Known for his aesthetic physique, Grimes initially made a mark in the Classic Physique division. However, he strategically transitioned to the Men’s Open category. This calculated move significantly advanced his career.
Facing competitors with larger mass in the Open category, Grimes showcased dominance. Notably, he achieved consecutive seventh-place finishes at the 2022 Arnold Classic and the Boston Pro. Although initially planning to compete in the 2022 Mr. Olympia, he withdrew, prioritizing further muscle development.
Returning to the Flex Weekend Pro stage in 2023, Grimes displayed an improved physique. Importantly, he secured his spot at the 2023 Mr. Olympia after a second-place finish to Nathan De Asha at the Europa Pro Championship.

Regan Grimes Targets Triumph at 2024 New York Pro
Embarking on a new challenge post-success, bodybuilding sensation Regan Grimes now targets the monumental 2024 New York Pro. This competition holds the third-most prestigious spot in the bodybuilding calendar, following the illustrious Arnold and the pinnacle Olympia. Triumph at the New York Pro could propel Grimes with formidable momentum toward the year’s highlight event.
In a candid interview with Brian Shaw on YouTube, Grimes strategically laid out his game plan, formally announcing his participation in the upcoming May edition of the New York Pro. This decision not only signifies Grimes’ unwavering dedication to the competitive stage but also underscores his resolute intent to showcase his prowess in an arena renowned for hosting the industry’s top-tier talent.
“Yes. Exactly. The next competition is going to be the New York Pro May 18th.”
“New York Pro. That’s it.”
In addition to revealing his intent to compete, Grimes elaborated on specific goals to enhance his physique.
“Definitely. Yeah. We were about 259, 260 at the Olympia. If I was 265 but even just a little sharper… that’s my goal. So another five pounds, I think it’s five pounds in that time period, it’s shooting for the moon but I think you know, we can do that,” says Grimes.
“You got to win [to qualify for Olympia]. Before, they had it where you could get second and you could go do the next show that’s in line, you get second, and maybe if you have enough points to qualify for the Olympia but now it’s you got to win a Pro show then you can go.”

Additionally, as Grimes gears up for the New York Pro, he envisions conquering the competition and clinching victory. Furthermore his preparations, he eagerly shares his excitement about the prospect of competing in his hometown, Toronto, Canada. Imagining the thrill of having his family cheering him on adds an extra layer of motivation to his pursuit of success.
“I gotta win that one [New York Pro 2024]. No idea [who will be competing]. I’ve heard some names but not too many yet. I’m sure they’ll roll out as time comes. Then of course, there’s another thing, there’s New York and like two weeks later there’s the Toronto Pro, two or three weeks later.
I don’t like to think like that, I don’t even like to think about it, but at home, the Toronto Pro, it would be cool to do it. Back at home base, I haven’t competed at home since 2014. So to have all the family and friends and everyone out there.”
Regan Grimes’ bodybuilding journey unfolds with unpredictability. With each stage appearance, marked by consistent improvement, he’s poised to challenge the Men’s Open category. Notably, this includes the absent Nick Walker, sidelined by a hamstring tear at this year’s Olympia.
Anticipation rises among fans for Grimes’ upcoming show in May. Here, his goal is clear: to pack on more muscle. Reflecting on past successes, if 2024 mirrors those achievements, Grimes will be a formidable contender in the Men’s Open. This remains true regardless of the stage.
