Chris Bumstead Smooth Stem Cell Procedure with Dr. Khan and Dr. Shaw
Describing it as “easy,” Bumstead emphasized that his previous treatments posed more challenges.
“I feel good that was easy,” said Bumstead. “It was harder to get it in my knees. Going under my patella was a little hard but that was nothing.”
Dr. Khan called the preventative procedure “relatively simple” and a “one-time thing.”
“For Chris, it’s not like he has chronic kidney disease, he’s not even really close to that but he wants to prevent it from his mild dysfunction getting worse. Instead of just saying let’s watch and wait and see if it gets worse, this is a preventative thing and it’s a relatively simple procedure and it’s a one-time thing and it can have a huge impact on reversing the mile damage and getting back to normal function,” said Dr. Khan.
Regarding the recovery period, Dr. Shaw specified that four hours is ample for Bumstead’s procedure.
“They[Patients] rest for usually two hours afterward, and then they’ll be watched for two hours total,” added Dr. Shaw.

“This is the next holy grail of regenerative kidneys.” @cbum
It was my second time working with the 5x Classic Physique Olympia winner Chris Bumstead here in Dubai. Our team did a renal artery injection of stem cells directly into Chris’ kidneys to help prevent his mild dysfunction from getting worse. To perform at the level Chris does is something I truly admire. But even worldwide champions need help sometimes. Regenerative medicine is changing the game and I’m playing. Thank you Chris for allowing us to share your story. Can’t wait to share your progress!
Here’s an up close look at the procedure.” Dr. Khan wrote.
Dr. Khan has also collaborated with elite bodybuilders, including the eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman and former titleholder Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay. Both athletes attribute their improved health and well-being to stem cell treatments.

In a recent interview, Bumstead, alongside his wife Courtney King, shared the news of their expecting a baby in 2024. Despite this, Bumstead is gearing up for a pursuit of his sixth title in October.
