In the landscape of competitive strongwoman events, Victoria Long is a towering figure. Her myriad of strength feats and an array of prestigious titles have earned her an unassailable place in the sport’s annals. Recently, Long aimed to etch her name even deeper into the records at the 2023 Kaos Classic Record Breakers. Long took to the platform with a singular purpose: to obliterate the Deadlift World Record. While she fell agonizingly short by just 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds), she nonetheless locked out a prodigious 297-kilogram (654.8-pound) deadlift.

Chasing the World Record

The 2023 Kaos Classic witnessed Long, armed with unwavering resolve, striving to surpass the existing Deadlift World Record of 300 kilograms (661.4 pounds), set by Lucy Underdown in 2021. Despite the immense challenge, Long’s 297-kilogram lift seemed almost effortless, stirring widespread anticipation of a new record. Yet, her ambitious leap to pull 700 pounds (317.5 kilograms) ended with an unexpected hamstring injury.

Impact on Future Competitions

The severity of Long’s injury remains unclear, casting a shadow of uncertainty over her future engagements. Known for her reign as the 2022 Shaw Classic Open champion, she was expected to return to defend her title at the event slated for August 19-20 in Loveland, Colorado. Her participation, however, depends on her recovery.

A Legacy of Strength and Dominance

Over the years, Long has carved out a triumphant journey in the strongwoman competitions, clinching five consecutive victories, including two each at the Arnold Strongwoman Classics and America’s Strongest Woman events. Her 2023 Arnold Strongwoman Classic performance was particularly noteworthy, where she set a new 651-pound (295.3-kilogram) Elephant Bar Deadlift World Record.

A Rivalry That Elevates the Sport

As Long recovers, the strongwoman landscape continues to evolve. Current record holder, Lucy Underdown, too, is eyeing the 700-pound milestone. Despite the uncertainty of Long’s swift return, her recent endeavor bears testament to her relentless pursuit of the World Record. The friendly rivalry between Long and Underdown is set to bring more thrilling competitions for the fans and further elevate the strongwoman sport.

Overview

Victoria Long, a stalwart in strongwoman competitions, aimed to shatter the Deadlift World Record at the 2023 Kaos Classic Record Breakers. Although she fell short by a narrow margin, lifting 297-kilograms (654.8-pound), her performance was a testament to her indomitable strength. An unfortunate hamstring injury during the event has put her future competitions in doubt. However, her string of successes, including multiple wins at the Arnold Strongwoman Classics and America’s Strongest Woman events, attest to her prowess. As the sport evolves, Long’s rivalry with record holder Lucy Underdown promises to bring more excitement and continue propelling the sport forward.
