As the 2023 World’s Strongest Man contest approaches, Scottish brothers Tom and Luke Stoltman have been sharing their rigorous training regimen with their followers, offering glimpses into the intense preparation necessary for the grueling competition. The event is set to take place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, during the week of April 19-23.
“Our Best Session Yet!”
In a recent YouTube video titled “Our Best Session Yet,” the Stoltman brothers showcased their training routine, which included a range of events that will be part of the World’s Strongest Man contest. The video reveals a grueling workout, in which the brothers pushed themselves to their limits.
Log Press Ladder
The video shows the brothers starting with a Log Press ladder, with Luke lifting first and performing five reps with weights ranging from 140 to 180 kilograms (310 to 397 pounds) in 10-kilogram jumps. Tom followed, attempting to match his brother’s impressive feat, but was unable to lock out the 180-kilogram lift. The brothers completed a second set with the same weights, with Tom successfully completing the heaviest lift.
Reflecting on his performance, Tom said, “I knew the first one was there, I just didn’t put enough chalk on it. So, you can see the power’s there and that’s nice. It’s good to do it on the second round, as well. That’s how fatigue will be at World’s [Strongest Man].”

Circus Dumbbell Press
Next up was the Circus Dumbbell Press, with Tom telling the camera that he performed two presses with 120 kilograms (242 pounds) for two, an impressive feat considering the Log Press ladder they had just completed.
“My shoulder power’s feeling very good right now, so, I just need to keep it up,” he said.
Fingal’s Finger
The third event of the day was with their custom Fingal’s Finger apparatus, which the brothers tackled with relative ease. Each athlete donned gripper gloves to assist their performance in the unconventional overhead movement.
Simulated Truck Pull
The fourth event, a Truck Pull, was scheduled, but due to the rain in their area, the brothers opted to simulate the event using a sled loaded with a combination of weights, including a 125-kilogram (275-pound) keg and an 180-kilogram (397-pound) sandbag. Each brother pulled twice across their building for an undetermined total distance.
Atlas Stones
The final event was the Atlas Stones, with both brothers lifting a 160-kilogram (352-pound) stone up and over a wooden bar setup for reps, simulating a Stone Off event. Tom managed to complete nine reps, while Luke did six.

Looking Toward the Future
Tom Stoltman is seeking to add a third WSM trophy to his collection, while Luke will be competing for his first title. If Luke were to win, the brothers would make history as the first siblings to have both won the World’s Strongest Man contest. Tom, on the other hand, would become the seventh champion to have won the title at least three times in the contest’s 46-year history.
As the 2023 contest approaches, the Stoltman brothers’ rigorous training regimen continues. By sharing their training with their followers, they offer a glimpse into the grueling preparation required to compete at the highest level of strongman competition.
