Here’s Why Bikini Bodybuilder Ashley Kaltwasser Competes So Frequently
Competing frequently gives three-time Bikini Olympia champion Ashley Kaltwasser an advantage.
At the 2023 Bikini International contest, Lauralie Chapados defended her crown, besting three Bikini Olympia champions, including the reigning Olympia champion Maureen Blanquisco.
Blanquisco ranked second in Columbus, OH, ahead of Olympia champion Jennifer Dorie in third and three-time Olympia champion Ashley Kaltwasser. Kaltwasser’s Olympia reign lasted from 2013 to 2015.
While she hasn’t won the biggest prize in bodybuilding since then, Kaltwasser has been remarkably consistent in pro shows while competing at an even more impressive frequency.
On March 7, 2023, Kaltwasser took to her YouTube channel to share why she chooses to compete at the rate that she does rather than take an off-season to put on more muscle. Check it out below:
Many of Ashley Kaltwasser’s fans ask her on social media why she doesn’t take a longer off-season to prepare for the Olympia. She responds by saying that she doesn’t want to focus solely on the Olympia, as there are other shows that she cares about too. Kaltwasser doesn’t want to risk putting all her efforts into one show that might not show any improvement.
Kaltwasser finds that she is the most motivated when she has a show approaching. Training for a contest eight months out can be mentally exhausting for her, and she prefers not to deal with that strain. She is constantly concerned about missing out on other pro shows throughout the season.
Kaltwasser believes that her legacy in the sport is not solely based on her Olympia performances, but on her overall performances across pro shows throughout her career. Her advantage is her ability to maintain her physique consistently.
Kaltwasser is still at the peak of her career, and if she were to retire tomorrow, her impressive results would establish her as one of the greatest competitors in the division.
Here are Ashley Kaltwasser’s impressive results from her nearly monthly competitions in 2022:
The Bikini International was Kaltwasser’s initial professional show of the year 2023, as per NPC News Online. Kaltwasser’s frequent participation in various pro shows made her dominant in 2022, competing almost every month.
