In a recent interview with RxMuscle, Samson Dauda talked about his ambitions to win his first Olympia title and the pressure he is under to bring his best look ever. Dauda is a Nigerian native living in the UK and has received praise as an Open class competitor for his mass, classic structure, and deep muscle separation. Last year, Dauda placed fourth at the 2022 Arnold Classic and Boston Pro and finished sixth at his first Mr. Olympia competition against a very talented lineup of bodybuilders.
Dauda then entered Ohio’s Arnold Classic where he battled against Nick Walker and Andrew Jacked. His shape and symmetry secured him the victory, though some in the sport took issue with the outcome. Nevertheless, veteran voices of bodybuilding like Bob Cicherillo believe Dauda is now sharing the number one contender spot with Derek Lunsford, who placed runner-up to Hadi Choopan at the last Olympia contest.
Following his recent victory in Ohio, Dauda said it felt amazing to become the first British Arnold Classic champion. He went into the mindset of knowing he could win the show and stated that he always aims to bring the shock factor when he enters a contest. Before the last Olympia, he had always been underrated going into a show, but he used that to bring the shock factor on stage.

Dauda stated that he is no longer the underdog and emphasized that expectations and pressure to succeed have never been higher. He explained that pressure would either break pipes or make diamonds, and the more pressure he is put under, the more he pushes himself to live up to it. With the recent changes to the top of the Men’s Open division, Millos Sarcev, who trains Dauda, broke down his pupil’s chances against reigning Mr. Olympia Hadi Choopan and Lunsford. He specified that Dauda has the best combination of everything except conditioning.
Dauda has laid out his ambitions and game plan for the upcoming 2023 Olympia, scheduled for November 2-5 in Orange County, Florida. He stated that he wants to bring the shock factor again and that there is only one result left to get, which is the top spot. He is excited about the Olympia and stated that every step up he gets, every expectation he climbs above, the more he expects. Winning the Olympia is his own expectation, and Dauda believes that he will achieve it this year.
Dauda’s story is an inspirational one, as he has overcome a lot to get where he is today. Growing up in Nigeria, Dauda suffered from sickle cell anemia, a genetic blood disorder that causes red blood cells to break down and block blood vessels. Despite this, he always had a passion for sports and began training in bodybuilding in 2013. He moved to the UK to pursue his dream and has been making steady progress ever since.
