Rudy Kadlub, a powerlifting legend, has been entertaining fans with his birthday deadlift for years. This year, he added to the excitement by setting a new personal record for a two-rep raw deadlift. The feat is remarkable not only for the weight lifted but also for the fact that Kadlub is 74 years old.

The Tradition Continues

Kadlub’s birthday celebrations have become a cherished tradition among powerlifting fans worldwide. Every year, on his birthday, he performs a customary deadlift, leaving everyone impressed and in awe of his strength. This year was no different as Kadlub lifted an impressive 524 pounds (237.7 kilograms) for his 74th birthday deadlift.

A Surprising Comeback

Kadlub had to postpone his deadlift attempt due to an illness earlier in the month, but he was able to make a comeback and lift one pound more than last year. The powerlifter surprised everyone in the gym and on Instagram, where he shared the news of his record-breaking deadlift.

Unconventional Approach

Kadlub’s approach to powerlifting is unconventional. He equipped himself with only a lifting belt and some chalk before coming up to the barbell. With multiple members of his team rooting for him, he slowly found his perfect foot placement for the sumo stance and lifted the 524-pound weight with ease.

The Pressure of Peers

Despite having achieved his one-rep max, Kadlub completed the second repetition under peer pressure. This feat left everyone in the gym and on social media amazed at his strength and determination. Kadlub’s dedication to powerlifting has been an inspiration to many in the community, and his record-breaking deadlift only adds to his already impressive legacy.

“For my annual birthday tradition, I pulled 524# this year, 1 pound more than last. This year, the @kabukistrength team peer pressured me into doubling it, so not only is this a raw PR deadlift weight for me, but for 2 reps!”
