Heinla’s Division Triumph: Overhead Pressing

In Heinla’s division, the initial challenge demanded contestants to overhead press diverse implements, such as a 285-lb barbell, a 181-lb dumbbell, a 322-lb Anchor Yoke, and a 263-lb Block. Heinla excelled, completing everything in just 32.78 seconds, significantly outclassing competitors by at least 14 seconds.

However, trouble arose in the second event, a 750-pound frame carry and handling heavy stones (280-lb + 235-lb) for 25 feet. This setback resulted in a 20th-place finish, effectively nullifying his first-event win.

Undeterred, the comeback unfolded in the deadlift ladder, where Masters athletes lifted barbells ranging from 635 to 800 pounds. Being the Masters Deadlift World Record holder, Heinla flawlessly dominated, while others struggled with the 800-pound lift.

Subsequently, the Survival Challenge followed, with contestants carrying a 101-pound rucksack through various movements. Heinla finished fifth in 48.16 seconds, ultimately benefiting from competitors ahead finishing lower.

On the last day, the Sandbag Toss required contestants to throw weights from 40 to 55 pounds. Heinla completed all tosses in 17.9 seconds, securing a second-place finish.

In the concluding event, the Atlas Stones, contestants lifted stones weighing between 275 and 400 pounds. Once again showcasing his prowess, Heinla swiftly completed the event, solidifying another victory. Despite tying in points with Johan Espenkrona, Heinla secured the title due to superior performance in the final event.

This monumental victory for Heinla, who faced a tiebreaker loss last year, sparks speculation about his plans, presumably involving a title defense in the upcoming year.
