Phillip Herndon, already a titan in raw squats and those augmented with knee wraps, is charting a new course. He’s stepping onto the stage of equipped powerlifting, embracing the challenge of a single-ply squat suit. And in true Herndon fashion, his maiden voyage in this domain wasn’t a tentative toe-dip but a full dive. The very first day he donned the suit, he did what many seasoned athletes only daydream about: he exceeded the All-Time World Record, lifting a formidable 1,045 pounds (474 kilograms). This Herculean effort was not left to word-of-mouth tales but was documented for posterity on his Instagram.

A Performance Par Excellence

Starting his endeavor with a preparatory warm-up, Herndon hoisted an already noteworthy 935 pounds (424.1 kilograms). But the zenith of the session was yet to come. In a move that left many in the powerlifting circuit agog, he then took on a weight of 1,045 pounds (474 kilograms). No athlete in his weight bracket has officially matched this feat. It wasn’t just about the weight; his execution was textbook precision. Supported by a lifting belt, knee wraps, and wrist wraps, Herndon displayed a methodical descent, only to rise with unmistakable determination and control.

Setting the Stage for a New Record

The annals of powerlifting have Anthony Oliveira’s name etched for the U125KG All-Time World Record in the single-ply suit category. Oliveira’s record, a squat of 1,036.1 pounds (470 kilograms), was set at the 2021 APF Buckeye Bash. But with Herndon’s recent performance, the ink on the record books may still be wet. If ratified, the pages could very soon bear Phillip Herndon’s name as the new record holder.

“Just breaking it in, no big deal.”

Herndon’s Raw Power: Unofficial Records and Beyond

Phillip Herndon’s prowess isn’t limited to the world of equipped powerlifting. He recently shattered the Raw Squat All-Time World Record during training, muscling up a formidable 914 pounds (414.5 kilograms). It’s evident: with or without equipment, Herndon’s squat strength is nothing short of phenomenal.

Eyeing the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2

The powerlifting community is abuzz with anticipation as Phillip Herndon gears up for the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2. Slated for October 27-29 at the Salisbury Center in Manassas, VA, many are left speculating which division this titan will compete in.

Setting the Bar High: Herndon’s Recent Feats

In a notable event less than two months ago, Herndon carved his name into powerlifting history once more. He emerged as the lightest man to squat an astonishing 1,000 pounds (453.6 kilograms) with knee wraps during an official competition. Given his recent strides in training, the next record to be toppled could be monumental. Herndon is poised to potentially become the lightest individual to squat 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) while donning a single-ply suit.

A Legacy of Dominance in Powerlifting

With 42 sanctioned powerlifting competitions under his belt, Phillip Herndon is no stranger to the platform’s pressure and the weight’s challenge. Out of these contests, he’s claimed victory in a whopping 28, painting a vivid picture of his consistent dominance. While he has already etched his name multiple times in the annals of world records, the horizon suggests that Herndon has more history-making lifts ahead.

Phillip Herndon’s Competition Personal Record Highlights

  • Squat (Wraps): 453.5 kilograms (1,000 pounds) — (2023 IPA Strength Spectacular)

Phillip Herndon: Beyond The Bounds of Expectation

Personal Bests

Every sport has its legends. In the domain of powerlifting, Phillip Herndon’s name reverberates with respect and awe. It’s not just about the records he breaks; it’s the seemingly insurmountable walls he scales each time.

Dive into the Numbers: Analyzing the Lifts

When one thinks they’ve witnessed Herndon’s peak, he shifts the narrative. Renowned for his unparalleled prowess in raw and knee wrap squats, Phillip continually redefines the zenith of human potential. And then there’s the single-ply suit.

For many, the single-ply was a space Herndon had not ventured into as dominantly. Yet, he blindsided the powerlifting world when, with minimal specific preparation, he unofficially shattered the world record in this division.

This isn’t just about the weights he lifts, but a testament to an athlete’s dedication, adaptability, and an indomitable spirit. When it comes to Phillip Herndon, perhaps the only predictable thing is his ability to consistently astonish.

Overview

Phillip Herndon has made waves in raw squats and knee-wrapped categories. Venturing into equipped powerlifting, he exceeded the All-Time World Record on his first attempt with a single-ply squat suit, lifting a staggering 1,045 pounds (474 kilograms), a moment he showcased on Instagram.

With 42 competitions and 28 victories, Herndon stands as a pillar in the powerlifting community. As he prepares for the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2, fans eagerly anticipate his next move.
