Captured Strength: A Glimpse into Herndon’s World on Instagram

Herndon’s followers on Instagram were treated to a glimpse of his record-breaking feat. A Smooth Powerhouse: Making the Extraordinary Seem Ordinary

The current official U125KG All-Time World Record for Raw Squat, standing at 909.4 pounds (412.5 kilograms), belongs to Reece Fullwood, earned at the 2023 GPC-GB Welsh National Championships. Herndon’s training lift, although unofficial, surpasses this record by a narrow yet notable 4.6 pounds (2 kilograms). What’s more, Herndon’s lift left spectators in awe due to the smoothness and seeming ease of execution, causing ripples of admiration across the powerlifting community.

Eyes on the Prize: Preparing for the WRPF American Pro 2

Herndon is now gearing up for the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2, slated to be held from October 27-29 at the Salisbury Center in Manassas, VA. Last year’s event attracted over 90,000 livestream viewers, building anticipation for this year’s competition, which promises an even larger prize pool. Herndon, with his record-breaking prowess, is sure to deliver a performance to remember.

Raising the Bar: Aiming for New Heights

Despite being the lightest man to officially squat 1,000 pounds (453.6 kilograms) with knee wraps, Herndon is not one to rest on his laurels. As per his recent Instagram post, he will start integrating knee wraps into his training regimen, indicating a transition from raw squats.

Tackling New Challenges: The Quest for the Knee Wraps World Record

Herndon’s sights seem to be locked onto a new goal, the knee wraps world record held by Zahir Khudayarov. Considering Herndon’s raw squat strength, Khudayarov’s six-year-long record might be at risk. It’s clear that Herndon’s prowess in raw squatting will translate into his performance with knee wraps.

A Testament to Perseverance: Phillip Herndon’s Steady Rise Herndon’s impressive growth is evident from his recent personal records, achieved in just two competitions this year. With a wealth of experience gained from participating in 42 competitions and taking home 28 victories, Herndon continues to carve out his place in powerlifting history with his unwavering commitment to excellence.

The Balancing Act: Managing Weight in Powerlifting

In sports like bodybuilding, fighting, and powerlifting, the pre-competition weight cut is often a critical part of the process. He carefully maintains his weight so he stays within his competition class, eliminating the necessity to cut weight before competitions.

Weighing in at around 271 pounds (122.9 kilograms), Herndon is primed for success in the 125-kilogram weight class.
