NFL legend J.J. Watt’s impressive physique continues to attract attention, even from the elite in bodybuilding. Seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath sees Watt’s potential beyond football.  Furthermore, in a recent TMZ interview, Heath, known as ‘The Gift,’ praised Watt’s physical condition. Moreover, Phil Heath believes he can Train and transform the NFL star Watt into a competitive bodybuilder quickly.

Heath confidently stated that with 12 weeks of dedicated training, he could prepare Watt for the bodybuilding stage. This offer from a bodybuilding icon highlights Watt’s exceptional physical capabilities and the crossover potential between sports.

“He definitely has the potential,” says Heath. “Well, if he was training with me, I can get him ready in 12 weeks. I can get him show ready in 12 weeks.”

Phil Heath stands as one of the most accomplished talents in the world of bodybuilding. He dominated the Men’s Open Mr. Olympia stage for seven consecutive years. Although he no longer competes, Heath’s ability to recognize a superior physique remains unparalleled.

NFL defensive end J.J. Watt, since retiring after the 2022 season, has continued to refine his physique with intense training sessions. His commitment to maintaining peak condition is undeniable.

Based on what Heath has observed, he is confident he can prepare J.J. Watt for a bodybuilding show in just 12 weeks.

“I can get him ready for an amateur show in literally 12 weeks, without a doubt,” said Heath. “If he trained with me for 12 weeks and we made sure everything was rocking and rolling no injuries, we do his blood work, we do all that cool stuff.

We figure out his nutrition, 12 weeks, I can get him on an amateur stage and he would actually be very pleased with how he looked.”

However, despite injuries sustained throughout his football career, Heath was impressed by J.J. Watt’s physique.

“Hey, I’m looking at this picture right here, man, he actually looks really freakin good. And considering all of the hard work that he had to do playing football, you played, get injuries and stuff, I’m looking at this photo I’m like, he actually looks really damn good.”

If Watt decides to pursue competing in a bodybuilding show, Heath suggests he consider starting in the amateur ranks. Moreover, Heath believes the Men’s Physique category could be a good fit for Watt, citing specific reasons.

“I think if he chose to do an amateur show, let’s say he started off doing like Men’s Physique, so he would be able to do mostly showing right above the knee, he’s not showing the whole quadriceps even though he’s got some decent quads, I think he would actually do well at the amateur level,” shares Phil Heath.

However, regarding Watt’s physique strengths, Heath highlighted his chest and core. He suggested that Watt could benefit from additional calf development and larger delts.

“I think his core looks really good. His core is a strength, his chest is a strength, in fact, his legs aren’t bad. Could he use more calf development? Yes. He could definitely use more calf development. Could he use more delts? Yes.”

Furthermore, the 44-year-old bodybuilding legend also mentioned that Watt might need bigger arms to succeed in bodybuilding.

“We’re talking about my sport. You need to have a minimum 22-inch guns man, especially for someone being that tall. For him to be proportionate, he’s got to work that front, side, and rear delts like crazy so when he’s doing those quarter turns he’s not getting lost.”

After retiring from competitive bodybuilding, Phil Heath continues to actively mentor the community with workout advice. Moreover, his well-regarded boulder shoulder routine and expert tips on developing ‘3D’ delts highlight his expertise, offering potential to shape J.J. Watt into a notable figure in bodybuilding.
