France has emerged as a powerhouse in the sport of powerlifting, with many world records currently held by French athletes. However, Panagiotis Tarinidis, a Greek powerlifter, is aiming to add to his list of achievements.

Panagiotis Tarinidis Unofficially Breaks IPF World Record Total

Panagiotis Tarinidis recently made headlines after unofficially breaking the IPF World Record Total. According to his Instagram, he decided to test his max lifts in all three events during a training session. Tarinidis managed to accumulate 720 kilograms (1,587.3 pounds), exceeding the current U66KG IPF World Record Total by 9.5 kilograms (20.9 pounds).

Impressive Squat Performance

Tarinidis kicked off his training session with an impressive raw squat of 255 kilograms (562.2 pounds). He performed the squat with knee sleeves and a lifting belt, showcasing his strength and technique.

Setting a New Personal Best on Bench Press

Tarinidis then moved on to the bench press, where he managed to build up to 175 kilograms (385.5 pounds). This lift is significant because it is 5 kilograms (11 pounds) heavier than his competition personal best.

Deadlift King of Grind

Tarinidis demonstrated his title as the “King of Grind” on the deadlifts. With a conventional stance and a mixed grip, he deadlifted an impressive 290 kilograms (639.3 pounds). Despite struggling as the bar reached his knees, Tarinidis managed to power through the sticking point after a few seconds. This lift was 10 kilograms (22 pounds) heavier than his previous best.
