Oleksii Novikov is not in the hunt for the 2025 World’s Strongest Man title. However, he’s still proving he belongs among the strongest men on Earth.
On March 15, 2025, at the Ultimate Strongman Barcelona Grand Prix in Spain, Novikov pulled an astonishing 550-kilogram 18-inch deadlift. It marked the heaviest partial deadlift ever completed in history.
Moreover, Novikov performed the lift without a deadlift suit. Instead, he used only a lever belt and wrist wraps as he locked out the bar loaded with custom oversized plates.

Novikov Sets 550KG 18-Inch Deadlift World Record at 2025 Barcelona Grand Prix
After strapping himself to the barbell, Novikov took several deep breaths. Then, he stood tall with 550 kilograms in his hands, rising to the roar of the crowd. Finally, he locked it out and received the down command from the judge.
Previously, the all-time 18-inch deadlift world record belonged to Rauno Heinla. In July 2023, Heinla lifted 540 kilograms at the Tartu Rammumees ja Rammunaine contest in Estonia.
Notably, this isn’t Novikov’s first time rewriting the record books. He owns the Circus Dumbbell for Reps record with 11 reps at 100 kilograms in 75 seconds. Additionally, he holds the Hummer Tire Deadlift world record at 549 kilograms.
Given this performance, many expected Novikov to appear at the 2025 World’s Strongest Man in Sacramento. However, he is not on the official roster. Most recently, he finished seventh at the 2024 Giants Live USA Championships in Las Vegas.

Overview
Recently, Oleksii Novikov broke the 18-inch deadlift world record by lifting 550 kilograms. Previously, Rauno Heinla held the mark at 540 kilograms. Then, Novikov added another major feat to his list of records. Additionally, he owns world records in the Circus Dumbbell for Reps and Hummer Tire Deadlift. However, despite this momentum, Novikov will not compete at the 2025 World’s Strongest Man in Sacramento. Instead, his last contest appearance was a seventh-place finish at the 2024 Giants Live USA Championships in Las Vegas.
