With just over two weeks to go, the 2023 Mr. Olympia looms large in Orlando, Florida. Now, the spotlight is on Nick Walker, who enters the 2023 Mr. Olympia with massive momentum. Recently, he shared on the Mutant and the Mouth podcast that he weighs 271 pounds. Clearly, he believes it’s the best shape of his life.
First, it’s important to recall the shock from last year. The 2022 Olympia in Las Vegas saw the dethroning of two-time champion Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay. Then, Hadi Choopan claimed the crown with razor-sharp conditioning. Meanwhile, Derek Lunsford and Nick Walker battled hard to round out the podium.
Next, Walker refused to rest on his Olympia bronze. Instead, he entered the 2023 Arnold Classic with full confidence. At first, many expected him to win. But in the end, it was Samson Dauda who stole the show with superior shape and flow.
Still, that loss didn’t break Walker’s spirit. In fact, it fueled him. Since then, he has been laser-focused on refining his aesthetics and symmetry. Above all, he is chasing history. Walker wants to become the 18th man to win the Mr. Olympia title.

Nick Walker 2023 Mr. Olympia Strategy: Enhanced Physique Despite Rigorous Dieting
As the countdown for the 2023 Mr. Olympia intensifies, Walker has meticulously planned his approach, aiming to make a remarkable appearance that’s 5-6 pounds more pronounced than his 2022 showcase.
“Yeah, I’m 271 now. Diet blows dick. Cardio is up. And we had some issues with the house thing,” shared Nick Walker. “I think you know with this year… with the way I’m looking and how I feel and everything, what Matt thinks… I’m going to be about 5-6 pounds heavier when all is said and done than last year’s Olympia.”
Nick Walker is not only confident about his augmented size and superior conditioning but emphasizes a newfound muscle maturity that’s visibly manifesting. This development could be the game-changer, potentially preventing reigning champion Hadi Choopan from clinching the title for a consecutive year.
“And I feel like I’m bigger; I’m more conditioned, I feel like that muscle maturity is really kicking in now. So I’m having — you can tell the difference. You know what I mean. Yeah [grainy]. I feel like that’s kicking in now and I just – everything they wanted me to improve on I improved. People have to remember it was a short off-season. I did the Arnold because there wasn’t a lot I could do directly, but I did as much as I could,” said Nick Walker.
As the marquee event draws near, Nick Walker revealed that his training regimen has incorporated heightened cardio sessions, underlining his commitment to arrive in peak condition for the competition.
“We’re at 45 [minutes] fasted, and then a half hour after training. An hour and 10 minutes or something,” said Walker.

Walker vs. the World: A Bold Prep for the 2023 Mr. Olympia
In bodybuilding, the weeks before a major contest test both the body and mind. Now, as the 2023 Mr. Olympia draws near, competitors have split into two camps. On one side, Hadi Choopan and Brandon Curry have kept quiet, choosing to train in private. On the other, Nick Walker and Derek Lunsford have stayed loud and visible, updating fans at every turn.
Clearly, Walker thrives in the spotlight. From the start, he’s shared frequent physique updates. More than that, he’s made bold claims about his rivals. A few months back, he dismissed Choopan’s threat altogether. Instead, he framed his battle with Lunsford as the real headline for this year.
At the same time, the Olympia lineup remains stacked. Although Big Ramy and Brett Wilkin won’t compete, fresh blood like Andrew Jacked and Michal Krizo will add intensity. Still, Walker remains undeterred. He’s made one thing clear: his only goal is to beat both Lunsford and Choopan. If he pulls it off, the upset could become one of the most talked-about moments in Olympia history.
