Dexter Jackson Continues to Impress With His Training Clips, Proving His Muscle-Building Prowess Even in His 50s
Dexter Jackson is best known for his 2008 Mr. Olympia victory, but he is also widely recognized as one of the greatest bodybuilders in the history of the sport. For more than two decades, from 1999 until his retirement after the 2020 Mr. Olympia, Jackson was a prolific competitor. Recent training clips show that the 53-year-old still possesses his muscle-building prowess.
On March 11, 2023, Jackson posted a video on Instagram in which he can be seen working through various arm workouts, such as biceps curls and triceps pushdowns. Just two days later, he shared another clip featuring back movements, including seated cable rows and dumbbell rows. It is unclear whether both videos were recorded on the same day, but Jackson can be seen wearing the same outfit in each one. Regardless, they showcase a ripped Jackson, who appears to be powering through his training, just as he did in his prime.
Dexter Jackson’s Possible Comeback at 2023 Masters Olympia and His Impressive Bodybuilding Career Achievements
It’s difficult to draw any serious competitive conclusions from two short clips of Dexter Jackson working out in the gym. However, it is possible that these videos are related to an upcoming comeback. The 2023 Masters Olympia is scheduled to take place in Romania later this summer, and Jackson, who won the competition in 2012, would qualify to participate.
If Jackson were to make a competitive comeback at the 2023 Masters Olympia, he would potentially be in the running for a substantial cash prize. In February 2023, the organizers of the contest announced that the overall prize pool would be $229,000. Moreover, Jackson would not necessarily be the only established, older athlete competing in the event. Although seven-time Olympia winner Phil Heath must wait for at least two more iterations, former 212 Olympia champion Kamal Elgargni, who is 51 years old, has expressed interest in aiming for the Masters crown.
Regardless of what Jackson decides to do next, his impressive competitive career speaks for itself.
Dexter Jackson made a name for himself in the bodybuilding world during the late 2000s. After Ronnie Coleman’s lengthy reign as Mr. Olympia came to an end, Jay Cutler was poised to take his place. However, in 2008, Jackson, a three-time Arnold Classic champion (2005-2006, 2008), defeated Cutler to become the new Olympia king. Jackson’s rise to the top of the sport at the same time as a new “Hulk” emerged is still regarded as one of the most legendary Olympia victories in history.
To this day, “The Blade” remains one of only four bodybuilders who have won at least one Arnold Classic and the Olympia. The other three are Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, and Brandon Curry. Additionally, Jackson is the only bodybuilder to have won the Arnold Classic, Mr. Olympia, and Masters Olympia titles. Here is an overview of Jackson’s most significant competitive achievements.

- Arnold Classic champion: (2005-2006, 2008, 2013, 2015) — The record for the most AC wins
