The 2024 Magnus Ver Magnusson Strongman Classic (MVMSC), held from Nov. 22-25, proved to be a milestone for Mateusz Kieliszkowski as he breaks stone press world record. It marked his first elite strongman victory since the 2019 World’s Ultimate Strongman (WUS) contest in Dubai. This victory was significant not only for the title but also for the way he dominated the competition. Moreover, Kieliszkowski’s triumph in this event underscored his return to top form after years of striving for success.

In addition to claiming the top spot, Kieliszkowski set a new stone press world record. He pressed 151 kilograms in the event’s opening, a remarkable feat that immediately set the tone for the rest of the competition. Furthermore, this achievement was particularly impressive given the challenges posed by the heavy, slippery stones. Despite these hurdles, Kieliszkowski’s technique and determination prevailed, allowing him to break the record.

Kieliszkowski later shared a detailed recap of his performance, breaking down his victory. He reflected on how he adjusted his strategy throughout the event and overcame obstacles, including the difficulties posed by the larger stones. As a result, his insights shed light on the preparation and mindset needed to achieve such a historic result. His reflections also emphasized the mental and physical preparation required to succeed in such a demanding competition.

Ultimately, Kieliszkowski’s performance at the MVMSC reaffirmed his place among the world’s top strongmen. His stone press world record was a testament to his strength and determination. In conclusion, with this victory, he has set a high standard for himself as he looks ahead to future competitions.

Kieliszkowski knew he had an advantage in the stone press event. He opened with 122 kilograms, the most of any athlete in the field. After his second successful lift at 142 kilograms, he locked in first-place points and no longer needed to take a third attempt. Still, the opportunity to set a world record presented itself, and Kieliszkowski decided to take it, despite the added strain it might cause during the rest of the competition.

However, the 151-kilogram stone posed a different challenge. Unlike the previous lifts, this stone was wider, requiring Kieliszkowski to adjust his grip. The wider block meant that his triceps had less leverage, a significant adjustment compared to the stones he had been training with. This shift in technique made the lift far more difficult than he had anticipated.

Initially, Kieliszkowski struggled with the wider stone, failing to lock it overhead on his first attempt. He dumped it behind his head, and the world record was still in question. Fortunately, he was given one more attempt. With his focus on the goal, he adjusted his grip and tried again, determined not to let the world record slip away.

Experience Matters

By now, Kieliszkowski had enough experience with heavy stones. He had regularly trained with 160-kilogram stones, far heavier than the 151-kilogram stone in front of him. Furthermore, understanding how to adapt, Kieliszkowski found the necessary technique adjustment. On his fourth attempt, he successfully locked the 151-kilogram stone overhead, earning the down command from the judge. Ultimately, this achievement not only set a new world record but also solidified his place at the top of the competition.
