Brian Johnson, known as the “Liver King,” rose to fame during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic by promoting an “ancestral lifestyle” focused on eating raw meat. This diet was designed to mimic how ancient humans lived and survived. Notably, Liver King Rise, Fall, and Recent Joe Rogan Controversy 🇺🇸 marked his journey into the spotlight. However, his approach quickly sparked controversy.
Moreover, many experts criticized his methods as risky and potentially harmful. Meanwhile, Johnson insisted his “primal” lifestyle was the source of his muscle mass. Despite this, speculation swirled around his suspected steroid use. Eventually, leaked lab results confirmed heavy steroid use, severely damaging his credibility.
Recently, Johnson found himself in legal trouble after a public feud with podcast host Joe Rogan. In fact, on June 24, 2025, Johnson issued multiple threats against Rogan. After persistently calling out Rogan for a fight, Johnson traveled to Austin, Texas, where Rogan lives. Naturally, law enforcement stepped in to prevent the situation from escalating.
Ultimately, the controversy surrounding Johnson has raised questions about his motives and mental state. While some see a desperate attempt to regain fame, others worry about the legal and personal consequences. Regardless, the saga has become a major talking point within the fitness and social media communities.

Meanwhile, journalist Nick Miller traced the drama back to Johnson’s Instagram. Indeed, Johnson posted manic videos with both vague and direct threats toward Rogan. In one clip, Johnson said he would stop posting after confronting Rogan.
Subsequently, these videos drew police attention. After speaking with Rogan, who described the videos as threatening, police located Johnson in a hotel room. Accordingly, they arrested him on charges of making terroristic threats and booked him into Travis County Jail.
Attention Seeking or Genuine Breakdown?
Furthermore, Miller suspects the arrest was a calculated publicity stunt. He remarked,
“If I hadn’t seen the mugshot and the jail record…I wouldn’t have believed the arrest. But he was actually arrested.”
Additionally, Miller described Johnson’s appearance as disheveled with dilated pupils and scabby skin. However, he noted Johnson always appeared this way and called him “a weird guy.”
Moreover, Miller suggested Johnson might feign insanity for attention. He explained,
“At one point, during COVID, there was a good six months to a year where Liver King may have been the most talked about, well-known, recognizable person on the internet.”
He added,
“The fame of fame he hit and how drastically and quickly his downfall came; ’til now, nobody cared about him. That probably impacted him.”

Eager to Regain Fame 🇺🇸
In addition, Miller believes Johnson is desperate to reclaim past fame. He is adopting an outrageous persona, posting bizarre videos, and publicly challenging major figures like Rogan.
Miller said,
“This is the only thing in recent memory where people looked at a Liver King video and cared.”
Also, Johnson’s brief resurgence may connect to a Netflix documentary appearance. Meanwhile, videos filmed before the arrest show Johnson surrounded by family and team, indicating support amid the chaos.
Miller pointed out,
“Johnson had the foresight to make Joe Rogan versus Liver King merch, and put it on before getting arrested.”
Assessing Mental Health and Drug Use 🇺🇸
Moreover, Miller argued that if Johnson were truly experiencing a drug-induced episode or mental breakdown, family support would likely be absent. The presence of loved ones challenges assumptions of isolation.
Miller speculated Johnson probably did not expect police involvement. He stated,
“If you remove the arrest from the equation, all he’s doing is calling out Joe Rogan to a fight, going to Austin, TX, and posting videos that seem like he’s crazy.”
He continued,
“Maybe it was a desperate Hail Mary that Rogan might respond. That was probably the outcome that the Liver King hoped for.”

Drugs, Breakdown, or Stunt?
Finally, Rogan has openly expressed his dislike of Johnson, revealing persistent requests for podcast appearances. Miller does not believe Johnson is using drugs beyond steroids or suffering a mental breakdown.
He concluded,
“A desperate, lame, fake, pathetic final attempt to grasp more attention.”
Furthermore, Miller suspects Johnson might later admit to faking his behavior. When that happens, Miller believes Johnson will lose credibility and audience interest.
