Liao Guifang’s New Clean & Jerk Record at 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships
In addition to her remarkable Snatch performance, Liao Guifang also excelled in the Clean & Jerk event at the 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships. However, unlike the Snatch event, she only completed two attempts. Liao succeeded in locking out 148 kilograms (326.3 pounds) on her second attempt, but decided to scratch her final attempt.
New World Record Total for Liao Guifang
After adding her 120-kilogram (264.6-pound) Snatch and 148-kilogram (326.3-pound) Clean & Jerk, Liao Guifang’s Total weight came out to 268 kilograms (590.8 pounds). This impressive Total weight not only secured her a gold medal, but also set a new World Record in the 71-kilogram weight class at the Asian Weightlifting Championships.

The previous Total World Record was held by Zhang Wangli, who achieved a Total weight of 267 kilograms (588.6 pounds) at the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships.
