Larry Wheels’ Deadlift Workout Breakdown
Larry Wheels unveiled his complete deadlift workout on YouTube, providing insights into his objectives for Iron Wars VIII. Notably, Larry aims to achieve a new personal record by deadlifting 800 pounds (362.9 kilograms) for 10 repetitions. This ambitious goal surpasses his prior achievement of seven reps with the same weight.
“I’ve always had large goals in mind for deadlifts; I’ve mentioned 1,000 pounds before, and one day I still aspire to achieve that. But now, I have my eyes set on something a bit more attainable.”

Larry Wheels then commenced his workout, opting for a stiffer bar instead of the specialized deadlift one. This choice added a notable level of difficulty, enhancing the effectiveness of his routine. However, Larry also acknowledged the increased risk as certain parts of the lower back experienced more pressure. Interestingly, the initial plan was for 20 sets, but Larry inadvertently performed 21.
Despite the prolonged break from lifting heavy weights, Larry Wheels effortlessly completed all 21 sets. Remarkably, the pace and effort remained consistent across each set, underscoring Larry’s exceptional conditioning and strength. It’s noteworthy that he accomplished this demanding workout using only a lifting belt and lifting straps.
“This year, my priority was bodybuilding and arm wrestling as a hobby. But powerlifting was not even an afterthought… So, did I think that I could do 700 pounds, after this long hiatus, for 20 singles? Absolutely not! But what I found interesting is that it didn’t get any more challenging set by set.”
Larry Wheels, harboring bodybuilding ambitions for an extended period, solidified his commitment to the sport in 2023, achieving considerable success. His foray into major competitions began with the 2023 NPC Ultimate Warriors, where he secured victory in the Classic Physique division. A few days later, at the 2023 Amateur Olympia, Larry claimed the second position. Following these competitions, Larry astounded by revealing a remarkable 53-pound gain in just five days, showcasing his transformed physique.
Despite his accomplishments in bodybuilding, Larry Wheels remains tethered to his passion for lifting colossal weights, a connection rooted in his prolific history in powerlifting. With numerous All-Time World Records and a notable participation in 16 sanctioned powerlifting competitions, where he emerged victorious in 11, Larry’s affinity for heavyweight lifting persists.
