Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar has broken four Junior and Senior World Records with a single lift during the 89-kilogram weight class event at the 2023 European Weightlifting Championships in Yerevan, Armenia. Nasar’s staggering 221-kilogram (487.2-pound) clean and jerk record lift allowed him to break the following four world records in the 89-kilogram weight class:

  • Junior and Senior World Record for the Clean and Jerk
  • Junior and Senior World Record for the Total Lift (Snatch + Clean and Jerk)
  • Junior and Senior World Record for the Clean
  • Junior World Record for the Snatch

Karlos Nasar’s record-breaking performance has solidified his position as a promising young weightlifter. His achievements inspire future generations to push the sport’s boundaries.

Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar continued his dominance in the 89-kilogram weight class. He broke four world records in a single lift at the 2023 European Weightlifting Championships in Yerevan, Armenia. Nasar already held three world records before this event.

Nasar achieved a snatch of 174 kilograms (383.6 pounds). This contributed to an overall total of 395 kilograms (870.8 pounds).   • Marin Robu (Moldova) — 364–kilogram (802.4-pound) total (166-kilogram/365.9-pound snatch and 198-kilogram/436.5-pound clean & jerk)

At just 18 years old, Karlos Nasar has already established himself as a dominant force in the sport of weightlifting. His performance at the 2023 European Weightlifting Championships in Yerevan, Armenia, where he broke four world records with a single lift and won the 89-kilogram gold medal by a margin of 21 kilograms (46.2 pounds), only solidified his position as one of the sport’s brightest young stars.
