In a tragic turn of events, 28-year-old Brazilian bodybuilder Jose Mateus Correia Silva died during a training session with friends in Aguas Claras, a town near the capital city of Brasil. The athlete, known for his dedication to fitness and competitive achievements, reportedly suffered cardiac arrest while training on Friday, November 22, 2024. The news comes from several local reports one week after his passing.

The incident unfolded during a rigorous workout session last Friday. Jose Mateus Correia Silva, accompanied by friends, suddenly fell ill during the session. Recognizing the severity of the situation, one of his friends, a firefighter, rushed him to a nearby fire station, where emergency medical efforts began immediately.

Despite over an hour of resuscitation attempts, Jose could not be revived. His untimely passing has sent shockwaves through Brazil’s fitness and bodybuilding communities, where he was a respected figure.

Brazilian Bodybuilder Jose Mateus Correia Silva, 28, Died of Cardiac Arrest

Jose Mateus Correia Silva, a 28-year-old Brazilian bodybuilder, tragically died of cardiac arrest during a workout. Notably, Silva’s competitive highlights included a ninth-place finish in the Men’s Physique at the 2018 South American Championships and an eleventh-place finish at the 2017 Arnold Classic South America. Though he was no longer actively competing, Silva remained deeply involved in the bodybuilding world. Moreover, he mentored aspiring athletes and operated an online supplement store. In addition, Silva held a law degree and completed a nutrition course, demonstrating his drive for success and diverse talents.

Shockingly, the news of Silva’s passing has left his family and friends devastated. His brother Tiago shared an emotional tribute on social media, writing, “You were incredible. Thank you for so much. I love you.” He also revealed to local media that Silva appeared to be in good health and had no known medical conditions. Tiago added, “Heaven has gained an angel. Jose was a much-loved man.” Silva’s funeral took place on Sunday, drawing hundreds of mourners. Tiagodescribed the service as a “beautiful farewell,” with so many people that they couldn’t fit inside the chapel. The service combined both evangelical and Catholic ceremonies, offering a heartfelt tribute to Silva’s life.
