Five-time IPF world champion Jesus Olivares crushed a 435-kilogram (959-pound) low-bar squat in training, making a major statement in late August 2025.
Moreover, Olivares posted the session online and said:
“Probably my best low bar rep to date.”
Then, he strapped on wrist wraps, knee sleeves, and a weight belt before stepping under the bar. He unracked the weight with control and set his stance. Next, he dropped into the hole, stood back up quickly, and re-racked the bar with precision.

After racking the bar, he told his spotter:
“Felt pretty good.”
Afterward, Olivares followed up with a 412.5-kilogram (909-pound) triple. This showed he was comfortable with the new form. Two weeks earlier, he had performed a 425-kilogram triple, proving his steady progress.
Later, Olivares reflected on his performance:
“I need to be more patient.”
He added:
“When you’re adapted to it, it becomes easier to keep your cool. That’s kind of what is happening. I’m adjusting to the new positioning.”
Additionally, Olivares reported a body weight of 393 pounds during the session. This detail highlights the size of the lift compared to his massive frame.
Meanwhile, his official IPF world record squat remains at 478 kilograms (1,054 pounds). Still, his recent training shows he is edging closer to that mark.
Previously, he competed at the 2025 IPF World Classic Championships. There, he totaled 1,070 kilograms with a 430-kilogram squat, 270-kilogram bench press, and 370-kilogram deadlift.
Finally, fans will not have to wait long to see him compete again. Olivares has accepted a wildcard invite to the 2025 Powerlifting America SBD Austin meet on November 22 in Austin, Texas.
