Powerlifting, many great athletes have graced the platform over the decades. However, none have officially achieved a heavier raw Total than Jesus Olivares. Currently recognized as the world’s best, he stands among the sport’s greatest. What makes it even more astonishing is Jesus’ continuous improvement, consistently lifting mind-blowing weights. Recently, Jesus Olivares shared an Instagram video featuring an incredible 420-kilogram (925.9-pound) deadlift.

Notably, this lift stands as an Unofficial IPF World Record. Jesus, known for moving massive weights, seemed to have overcome a previous limitation—his grip strength. Furthermore, in this lift he executed conventionally with only a lifting belt, he demonstrated remarkable ease and confidence.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that Jesus Olivares already holds the official IPF World Record in raw deadlift at 410 kilograms (903.9 pounds). Moreover, he set this record at the 2023 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. With his consistent dominance, it’s expected to remain in his possession for the foreseeable future. His next opportunity to showcase his prowess is anticipated at the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships on February 10th.

Although Jesus Olivares has been relatively sparing in his competition appearances, competing twice each year, this approach allows for focused training and improvement. Also, each time he steps onto the platform, Jesus manages to break World Records or achieve personal bests.

In addition, his journey in powerlifting started in 2013, with a hiatus from 2015 to 2019. Throughout 21 sanctioned competitions, he emerged victorious in 12, including three consecutive IPF World Championships. As he eyes the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships, the anticipation within the powerlifting community is palpable, eagerly awaiting Jesus Olivares to bring forth another round of excitement and records.

Notably, two months ago, Jesus Olivares demonstrated significant progress in his powerlifting journey by achieving a remarkable 280-kilogram (617.3-pound) raw bench press PR. However, this achievement suggests that he is advancing across all facets of powerlifting. However, the question now arises whether Jesus Olivares has the potential to become the first powerlifter to reach a raw total of 1,200 kilograms (2,645.5 pounds).

Overview

Jesus Olivares, considered the world’s best powerlifter, recently set an Unofficial IPF World Record with a 420-kilogram deadlift. Furthermore, his consistent dominance and improvement in various achievements make him a standout in powerlifting. Moreover, with an official IPF World Record in raw deadlift at 410 kilograms, Olivares is anticipated to showcase his prowess at the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. However, competing twice a year allows for focused training and continuous record-breaking performances. Olivares, with victories in 12 out of 21 competitions, including three consecutive IPF World Championships, remains a formidable force in the sport.
