Jeremy Buendia, a stalwart in the Men’s Physique division, recently took to Instagram to share practical training advice. In a post, he critiqued the conventional approach of mindlessly repeating up-and-down reps during workouts. According to Buendia, such a routine reflects a lack of optimal time utilization in the gym. He urged followers to enhance their sessions by incorporating training intensifiers, offering a pathway to increased productivity.

“While training, straight reps up and down, up and down, with your mind not engaged during your workout. I can tell you aren’t utilizing your time correctly in the gym and you guys can get a lot more done by utilizing some training intensifiers” Buendia said.

As a former four-time Men’s Physique Olympia, Jeremy Buendia stands as a paragon of excellence, celebrated for his outstanding back definition, taper, and slim waist. Returning from a hiatus, Buendia tested his mettle at the 2023 Olympia contest. Although falling short of podium contention due to conditioning, he defied expectations with a robust eighth-place finish. Unwavering in determination, Buendia is already plotting his course for the 2024 season, leaving fans eagerly anticipating his participation details.

Buendia’s Instagram post not only dispenses valuable training tips but also underscores his commitment to optimizing workout efficiency. His critique of monotonous reps resonates with followers seeking a more purposeful approach to their fitness routines. The post serves as a testament to Buendia’s status as an influential figure in the Men’s Physique realm, bridging the gap between experience and actionable advice.

In the competitive arena, Buendia’s return to the Olympia stage and impressive finish reaffirm his enduring legacy. Despite the absence of podium glory, his resilience and performance exceed expectations, showcasing his continued prowess. As Buendia sets his sights on the 2024 season, the anticipation surrounding his potential show participation builds, adding a layer of intrigue to the future trajectory of this Men’s Physique luminary.

Jeremy Buendia offers 4 effective tips for intensifying training sessions

  1. Time under tension: Buendia emphasizes the importance of maximizing time under tension during exercises. Slowing down the pace and focusing on controlled movements enhances muscle engagement and promotes better results.
  2. Partial reps: Incorporating partial reps into workouts targets specific portions of a muscle’s range of motion. This technique can lead to increased muscle activation and improved overall development.
  3. Static holds: Buendia suggests incorporating static holds, where a muscle is held in a contracted position, to increase the challenge. This not only adds intensity but also contributes to improved muscle endurance.
  4. Drop sets: Utilizing drop sets involves performing an exercise until failure and then reducing the weight to continue the set. This technique helps push muscles to exhaustion, promoting muscle growth and strength development.

Buendia’s tips provide practical insights for individuals looking to elevate the intensity of their training routines.

Following Ryan Terry’s surprising victory as the new Men’s Physique Olympia, Buendia aims to implement necessary changes to reclaim the throne. During his leisure time, he shared valuable strategies for intensifying any workout.

“1. Time Under Tension- focus on a three-second negative motion during each rep.”

 2. A Partial, Partial, Full Rep- Two partial reps followed by a full rep.

 3. Static Holds- This will be used during an isometric motion. One side is going to hold a contraction while the other side completes the reps.

4.Drop sets- With a heavier weight complete 8-10 reps and then after that drop the weight and finish your reps till failure.”

Jeremy Buendia contributes tips aimed at pushing the limits of any workout.

“If you guys really want to gaslight your arms for the last set of every exercise, utilize partial reps at the end of that set. Full reps, start to gas out. We’re going to drop into full stretch partial rep anywhere from half to 75% of the contraction.

“These are the training intensifiers that will take your gains to the next level,” Jeremy Buendia shared.
