A Young Powerlifter Emerges Undefeated at USAPL High School Nationals
According to Open Powerlifting, Eleuterio Montalvo, at 18 years old, competed in his third sanctioned meet and emerged as the champion in the 125-kilogram weight class. This win makes Montalvo undefeated in his young powerlifting career. His most recent victory came at the 2023 USAPL High School Nationals where he competed in the Teen 18-19 division.
Montalvo on Track to Break Records
Montalvo’s total of 868.5 kilograms at the 2023 USAPL High School Nationals in the raw Teen 18-19 division puts him in elite company. He is only 1.5 kilograms away from tying the second-heaviest total of all time held by Corentin Clément. Clément set his record of 870 kilograms at the 2019 EPF Arnold Classic Europe. The current all-time raw total world record in the Teen 18-19 division is 891.3 kilograms, scored by Larry “Wheels” Williams at the 2014 RPS Pennsylvania State Championships. With Montalvo’s continued progress, he may challenge for Wheels’ record.
