Ab-Sculpting Tips from Cydney Gillon

On May 8, 2023, Cydney Gillon shared an ab workout routine on her Instagram page. The post was met with enthusiasm from her followers, who were eager to learn from the six-time Figure Olympia champion.

Gillon’s ab workout routine focuses on sculpting the midsection and includes exercises like planks, crunches, and bicycle kicks. She emphasizes the importance of proper form and breathing during each exercise to ensure maximum effectiveness. With her expert guidance, anyone can achieve a stronger, more defined core.

Gillon Shares Ab Training Tips for Her Followers

In an effort to help her followers achieve their fitness goals, six-time Figure Olympia winner Cydney Gillon recently shared some of her go-to ab exercises on Instagram. The former “Survivor” contestant, who also coaches other athletes outside of her competitive career, posted a video of herself performing three exercises that she regularly includes in her training routines.

Gillon, who performs an ab workout during every training session, also provided tips on how to properly execute the exercises in the caption of the post. Her 139,000 followers can now benefit from her expertise and incorporate these exercises into their own workouts.

Cydney Gillon’s “Foam Roller Crunch” Exercise

In a recent Instagram post, Cydney Gillon demonstrated an ab workout that includes a unique tool – a foam roller. In the video, Gillon is seen lying on the floor with the foam roller under her mid-back area. She then performs a standard crunch, lowering herself down so her upper back rounds around the foam roller.

To execute the exercise, Gillon places her hands behind her head with the elbows coming forward as she rises and flaring out as she goes back. While she did not offer a specific rep goal, she performed eight reps in the video. Gillon also included tips in the caption of the post to help her followers execute the exercise correctly.

“There should be zero strain in your neck. Make sure your hand is properly supported and you aren’t bending your neck versus using your abs.”

Gillon Demonstrates Plank Knee Taps to Work Lower Abs

In addition to the foam roller crunches, Gillon shared a second exercise in her ab workout routine. In this exercise, she starts in a push-up position before lowering her knees to the floor and immediately bringing them back up to the starting position. Gillon maintains a consistent cadence with each rep and emphasizes the entire ab muscle with a focus on the lower abs. She demonstrated performing 15 reps of the exercise in the video.

“Great if done efficiently. The core should be tight the entire time and the knees should not collapse to the floor. Plank first, drive knees down and right back up for each rep. This variation is good if your hip flexors are zapped from leg lifts or leg day.”

Core Stability with Planks: Cydney Gillon’s Final Exercise

In the last exercise of the sequence, Gillon demonstrates the importance of a stationary plank. With her elbows and forearms on the ground, she maintains a traditional plank position while keeping her glutes slightly higher than her shoulders.

The key to this exercise is to keep the abs strongly contracted and prevent them from relaxing. Gillon holds the position for around 10 seconds before the video ends, emphasizing the importance of core stability in any ab workout routine.

“Make sure your core remains engaged and try to make sure you don’t rock forward to your shoulders when the abs begin to fatigue. Start with a short count then work your way up.”

Cydney Gillon Aims to Extend Winning Streak at 2023 Figure Olympia

As she prepares for her next competition, six-time Figure Olympia champion Cydney Gillon is already setting records in her division. The former “Survivor” contestant, who also coaches and trains other athletes, is the winningest champion in the history of her division, having won six consecutive titles.

Gillon will defend her title at the 2023 Figure Olympia contest, which is part of the 2023 Olympia Weekend scheduled for Nov. 2-5 in Orlando, FL. While her competitors may be formidable, Gillon seems confident about her chances of retaining her title indefinitely.

Compared to her fellow Figure competitors, Gillon’s winning streak is unprecedented. The next-closest champion with uninterrupted title wins is Davana Medina, who won the inaugural Figure Olympia championship three years in a row from 2003 to 2005. Even Nicole Wilkins, who amassed four total wins across six years (2009, 2011, 2013, 2014), falls short of Gillon’s impressive record.

As she continues to prepare for the upcoming competition, Gillon’s winning streak is poised to continue, cementing her status as one of the most accomplished athletes in the sport of bodybuilding.
