The bodybuilding world was recently shaken by news that Nick Walker and Coach Kyle Wilkes are no longer working together after cold phone call. Wilkes revealed that their split followed what he described as a “cold phone call” from Walker. The decision came after Walker’s sixth-place finish at the 2025 Olympia, a performance that left fans and experts debating his future.

“It was a cold call. Nick didn’t explain why he wanted to end things.”

Despite a strong season, including a victory at the 2025 New York Pro, Walker and Wilkes parted ways. This ended a short but productive collaboration. Wilkes explained:

“He expressed dissatisfaction with his physique at the Pittsburgh Pro, even though it was one of his best looks.”

The split highlights the pressure and scrutiny elite bodybuilders face preparing for the Olympia stage. Fans had expected Walker to continue his partnership with Wilkes after Pittsburgh, but the sudden separation shocked the bodybuilding community.

Walker first teamed up with Wilkes following a previous coaching relationship with Matt Jansen. Together, Walker and Wilkes achieved strong results in 2025. However, his sixth-place Olympia finish brought scrutiny.

“Nick is capable of incredible things on stage. My hope is that he continues to push and improve,”Wilkes stated.

Social media exploded with speculation about Walker’s next move. Some suggested a new coach, while others wondered if he might continue solo. Wilkes emphasized that despite the split, he maintains respect for Walker as an athlete.

Walker’s career trajectory has been impressive. He burst onto the professional stage in 2021 with victories at the New York Pro and Arnold Classic, finishing in the top five at the Olympia shortly after.
