The Chinese bodybuilding world πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³ was stunned by the news. Chinese Bodybuilder Bi Jiaqi, a 26-year-old fitness influencer, dies in his sleep on January 30, 2026. Next, thousands of fans and followers reacted online, mourning the sudden loss of a rising star. Then, friends noted that Jiaqi had shown signs of strain in recent weeks, though none predicted such a tragic outcome. Finally, his passing has sparked renewed discussion about the risks of extreme bodybuilding practices.

Meanwhile, Jiaqi had built a massive online presence. He regularly shared workout updates and physique progress on Weibo. Moreover, he was preparing for his next competition πŸ₯‡. Consequently, the community viewed him as dedicated, disciplined, and full of promise.

Furthermore, Jiaqi’s death is part of a worrying trend. Several bodybuilders have recently died under similar circumstances, highlighting the potential dangers of the sport πŸ₯‰. Experts warn that intense prep and extreme training can take a serious toll on the heart.

Finally, the Fitness Volt team extended condolences to his friends and family. His passing leaves a gap in the fitness community, one marked by admiration for his talent and sadness for his early departure.

Cardiologists emphasize the strain high-intensity training can place on the cardiovascular system. Long-term extreme exercise may lead to heart damage. Second, prep practices like dehydration and fat reduction can thicken the blood. Third, this increases the risk of thrombosis and sudden cardiac events.

β€œLong-term high-intensity fitness training can place a huge burden on the cardiovascular system.”

β€œIn particular, the dehydration and fat reduction methods commonly used by bodybuilders before competitions can make the blood thicker, greatly increasing the risk of thrombosis.”

β€œExercise is a double-edged sword – both inactivity and excessive exercise are bad for the heart,” said Zhang Yu, cardiologist at Fuwai Hospital in Shenzhen. β€œLong-term overload training may lead to myocardial fibrosis and myocardial hypertrophy, which may increase the risk of sudden death.”

Meanwhile, experts urge athletes to balance training with proper recovery. Moreover, they caution against extreme dieting and dehydration before competitions πŸ₯ˆ. Consequently, safer practices could reduce the risk of tragic outcomes in bodybuilding.

Community Reaction and Industry Reflection πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

Fans flooded social media with tributes to Jiaqi πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³. Many shared memories of his guidance and motivational posts. Next, fellow bodybuilders expressed concern over the sport’s culture of extreme preparation. Then, public figures, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, warned that the sport can be dangerous.

β€œThe sport is dangerous and sometimes kills people,” Schwarzenegger said in recent commentary.

Meanwhile, Jiaqi’s friends recalled his dedication and humor. Just days before his passing, he joked online that his head looked β€œswollen like a steamed bun.” Such posts underscore the pressures athletes face while maintaining their physiques.

Finally, an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of Jiaqi’s death. In the meantime, the fitness community continues to grapple with the reality of losing young talent to sudden health crises.
