For the past two decades, Brian Shaw has dedicated himself to being the greatest strongman in the world. Now, Shaw is shifting his focus to arm wrestling, where he will face Eddie Hall in a highly anticipated match. The four-time World’s Strongest Man champion embraces this new challenge as “The Beast.”
Fortunately for Shaw, his first opponent will have just as much professional experience—none. They will square off in a star-studded battle of decorated strongmen. On Sept. 27, 2024, Shaw confirmed he will face Hall at King of The Table 13 on Dec. 14, 2024.
Additionally, the Colorado native shared insights into his training for this arm wrestling debut. He aims to bring the same intensity and dedication that propelled him to success in strongman competitions.
Brian Shaw Officially Has a Date With “The Beast” Eddie Hall For Arm Wrestling Match
Although he retired from strongman over a year ago, Shaw’s competitive spirit remains strong. He recognizes that he still has much to learn in this new arena. Consequently, Shaw chose to take on a familiar opponent in Hall, aiming to challenge himself while reigniting his competitive edge.
“I don’t know if he feels like he’s gotten stronger, magically, and can give me a challenge, especially with the rate at which I am progressing,” expressed Shaw. “He can be the sacrificial lamb. If he thinks he can pose any type of a challenge to me, then I welcome that without a doubt.”

King of the Table 13 will take place in the United States. However, the specific venue has not yet been announced. Additionally, the event will feature a marquee match between Jerry Cadorette and Levan Saginashvili for the Super Heavyweight Right Arm World Title.
Meanwhile, Shaw has about two months to refine his technique. Consequently, the pressure mounts for him to prepare for this new challenge against “The Beast.”
“I’m looking at Eddie as a stepping stone to where I ultimately am going to go.”
Before announcing his upcoming match against Hall, Shaw offered insight into his new athletic endeavor. His own gym allows him privacy and the ability to focus. Moreover, a tight circle of training partners supports his transition from strongman to arm wrestling.
“I want to come into the gym and ask questions and feel the positions,” Shaw explained. “They’re sharing their knowledge with me, and each of those guys is benefitting me in a big way.”

While his strength is an advantage, Shaw acknowledges he has much to learn on his journey. Balancing arm wrestling with strength training presents challenges beyond tossing kegs and performing strongman exercises.
He noted, “You feel different pressures [and] angles. There’s a soreness that comes with that. It’s been a puzzle to figure out.”
Although his “table IQ” isn’t fully developed yet, Shaw remains motivated to make a significant impact in his new sport. Despite Hall’s impressive resume, “The Beast” seems destined to fall short in their upcoming biceps battle this December.
