Amanda Lawrence Lifts 259.9 Kilograms (573 Pounds) in Deadlift Prior to the 2023 Sheffield Championships
Lawrence’s Monumental Deadlift Suggests Further Powerlifting Dominance Ahead
In 2022, Amanda Lawrence, an 84KG powerlifter, accomplished her third International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Championship win in the last four years. At the 2022 Powerlifting America (AMP) Classic Open Nationals, Lawrence earned the Best Overall Lifter title. She even achieved a personal record (PR) or two in training, including a raw 249.9-kilogram (551-pound) paused deadlift PR in August 2022. As the new competitive season approaches, Lawrence appears to be well-prepared and poised to continue her success.
On Mar. 2, 2023, Lawrence posted an Instagram video of herself performing a raw 259-kilogram (573-pound) deadlift during a training session. The pull is just half a kilogram (1.3 pounds) short of Lawrence’s World Record of 260.5 kilograms (574.3 pounds) from the 2021 IPF World Raw Classic Powerlifting Championships, according to the IPF database. Although Lawrence struggled a bit, she held the locked out position for several full seconds.
Lawrence’s recent deadlift performance suggests that she might potentially break her own record in the near future. Lawrence only wore a lifting belt for support during the lift. In the video clip, she also completed a five-rep set with 239.9 kilograms (529 pounds) while wearing a belt and lifting straps.
