A Tour of Strongman Shane Flowers Home Gym

Strongman Shane Flowers has transformed his rural UK property into a full-fledged home gym and training base. First, he cleaned out his double garage and barn. Then, he equipped the space with gear tailored for elite-level contests.

Now, the gym includes everything from compact squat racks to massive granite stones. Each piece of equipment plays a role in preparing Flowers for the biggest stages in Strongman.

Currently, he is focused on the 2025 Strongest Man on Earth contest, set for August 16–17 in Loveland, Colorado. Earlier this year, Flowers secured a strong seventh-place finish at the 2025 World’s Strongest Man in May.

Moving forward, he believes this home gym gives him the tools to climb even higher in the rankings.

Double Garage for Solo Training Sessions

To begin with, Shane Flowers trains in his double garage for nearly 90 percent of his sessions. First, he cleaned the space. Then, he transformed it into a focused home gym for elite prep.

At the center of the setup is a Mirafit half rack. Notably, it supports up to 300 kilograms and occupies only half the footprint of a full rack. As a result, it gives him plenty of room to focus on squats and endurance work.

Next to the rack stands a Giant’s Live-spec stone wall. Specifically, its platforms range from 170 to 130 centimeters in height. Nearby, Flowers stores eight Atlas stones that vary from 100 to 240 kilograms. Because of this setup, he can simulate real contest conditions in his own garage.

In addition, a Rogue Echo Bike sits in one corner. Currently, he uses it during prep to improve his conditioning. That way, fatigue won’t limit his performance in future events.

Furthermore, the garage houses a dumbbell rack, Monolift bench attachments, a Big Dogs Division wooden log, and grip tools like a Saxon bar and resistance bands. Clearly, Flowers built this gym for versatility and progression.

Tucked in the back, one machine stands out. Indeed, his custom sissy squat machine helps him focus on knee and ligament health.

“I do isometrics. Basically, I pause in a partial squat position and hold that isometric,” Flowers explains. “That’s been really good for my knee health.”

Barn Designed for Strongman Events

Meanwhile, his barn is the go-to spot for dynamic strongman event training. Notably, it features a 20-meter runway and a 9-meter ceiling. Because of this, it suits events like carries, throws, and weight runs.

To train loading medleys, he turns to the Mirafit yoke. Specifically, it primes his nervous system with the same kind of stress he’ll face in competition. Additionally, Flowers uses a custom Hercules hold to enhance his grip strength.

Also in the barn, he keeps loadable circus dumbbells with three-inch handles. Without a doubt, these challenge overhead stability and raw shoulder power.

Toward the rear, Cornish granite stones lie in wait. Ranging from 96 to 160 kilograms, they are central to his technique work. Importantly, they helped him prepare for the 2025 World’s Strongest Man.

“This is what helped me press that stone to make the final,” Flowers says.

Finally, the barn includes even more strongman-specific tools. These include Conan’s wheel for grip endurance, a Viking press for overhead strength, and power stairs to build explosive lower-body drive under heavy fatigue.
