Event One — Elephant Bar Deadlift
The competition opened with the Elephant Bar Deadlift, a signature Arnold event that challenges athletes to lift massive weights with a longer barbell that bends significantly under heavy loads. Each competitor received three attempts to establish their one-rep max.
Next, Lucy Underdown once again demonstrated why she is considered one of the greatest deadlifters in strongwoman history. She lifted 701 pounds (318 kilograms) to win the event and set a new world record. After the lift, Underdown stated that she still had more strength left and intends to push the record even higher in the future.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lyle delivered one of the biggest surprises of the event. She briefly broke the world record with a 681-pound (308.9-kilogram) lift before Underdown reclaimed the mark. Olga Liashchuk rounded out the top three with a 621-pound (281.7-kilogram) deadlift.
