The 2025 World’s Strongest Man competition in Sacramento heated up on Day Two with the grueling Titan’s Toss. Competitors faced a demanding challenge: hurling ten sandbags, each weighing 14 kilograms (30 pounds), over a 3.65-meter (12-foot) bar as quickly as possible. While the weight remained steady, the distance for each toss steadily increased throughout the event. Athletes had to clear two bags at seven meters, two at eight meters, two at nine meters, two at ten meters, one at eleven meters, and the final bag at twelve meters.

Each athlete was allowed only one toss per bag. If a bag caught or snagged atop the bar without fully clearing it, the lift still counted, adding a tactical element to the event.

Previously, Wesley Derwinsky, Mitchell Hooper, and Tom Stoltman had set world records in the 2024 WSM Keg Toss. This year, Derwinsky and Hooper competed in Group Two, setting the stage for a fierce battle. Meanwhile, Stoltman led Group One after Day One, with the Titan’s Toss suiting his abilities perfectly. Still, the 2024 record measured height rather than speed, so the scorching Sacramento heat left room for surprises.

Ultimately, only Stoltman and Maxime Boudreault tossed all ten bags successfully, proving their dominance in this tough, high-stakes event.

2025 World’s Strongest Man Titan’s Toss Recap

Group Four

First, Boudreault and Hoath kicked off the morning event. Both handled the bags easily in the beginning. However, Hoath missed his eighth toss. Meanwhile, Boudreault stayed perfect through all ten tosses, but was slightly slower than Hoath.

Next, Mitchell and Fojtů stepped into the arena. Although Fojtů had a faster cycle speed, both wrestled with the height of the bar. As a result, neither came close to Boudreault’s flawless 10-for-10 run.

Ultimately, Boudreault’s performance proved exceptional. In fact, it became clear later just how impressive a perfect round really was. Moreover, WSM promoter Colin Bryce called him the best bag tosser on the planet.

Group Five

Initially, Guardione and Flynn were paired in the first heat. Unfortunately, Flynn dropped out halfway through the event. Meanwhile, Guardione scored all but one toss until the final bag, where he overskipped his start. Since that was not considered an attempt, when he finally tossed, it lacked the power of previous throws.

Then, Kordiyaka and Luke Stoltman faced off knowing Guardione’s time was the target. Although Kordiyaka was faster, he lacked the toss height to go deep. Meanwhile, Stoltman missed his final toss but otherwise looked comfortable in his 10th WSM appearance.

Notably, Stoltman holds the record for most WSM appearances on the 2025 roster. His experience showed even with a missed final toss. Together, both athletes battled hard but fell short of Guardione’s overall time.

Group Two

Ragg ran a solo heat and was introduced as a McDonald’s graveyard shift manager who trains for WSM during the day. He placed fourth at the 2024 WSM. Furthermore, Ragg showed steady hands and high tosses through nine bags. On the last toss, he roared but couldn’t get the bag over the bar.

Afterward, Haynes and Derwinsky took their turn. While Haynes tossed with a vertical style, costing him time early, he kept tossing for the crowd. Meanwhile, Derwinsky back rolled his final toss, which didn’t clear the bar.

Finally, Johnson and Hooper ran the last heat in Group Two. Although Hooper tossed vertically and missed two bags, he seemed okay with it after checking with the judge. In contrast, Johnson, a WSM newcomer, struggled with technique on far tosses and couldn’t convert.

Group Three

Kieliszkowski ran a solo heat but was effectively eliminated due to a six-point deficit. Still, he made the most of it by converting seven bags. Earlier this week, it was announced he was recovering from a virus and not competing at full strength.

Then, Flowers and Nana took the stage, separated by half a point. At first, Nana started slow, letting Flowers get ahead by one bag. After six tosses, Nana lacked the technique and explosiveness to convert more. Meanwhile, Flowers finished with two more bags than Nana.

Lastly, Hatton and Nel competed. While Nel led the group, Hatton was tied with Flowers before the event and knew nine bags would give him a cushion. Although Nel tossed faster, he missed a bag first. Meanwhile, Hatton converted eight bags and laughed offstage after missing his ninth.

Group One

Williams ran a solo heat after finishing last in the Overhead Medley. Initially, he tossed well, clearing above the bar through six bags but slowed by the seventh. Then, he missed the ninth and failed the tenth, falling and humorously break-dancing to his feet.

Next, Andrade and Schoonwinkel were paired. While Schoonwinkel moved with more urgency and balance, both faltered late and couldn’t surpass Williams.

Finally, Evans and Tom Stoltman ran the last heat. Although Stoltman entered with a five-point lead and was locked in for the Final, he gave it his all. Moreover, he threw bags high—except the final toss that bounced off. After a perfect 10-bag finish, he tore off his shirt to the roaring crowd, holding up four fingers, signaling his intent to defend the title.

Overview

The 2025 World’s Strongest Man Titan’s Toss tested athletes with ten sandbags thrown over a 12-foot bar at increasing distances. First, competitors faced two bags at seven meters, gradually moving to one bag at eleven and the final at twelve meters. Then, only Tom Stoltman and Maxime Boudreault completed all ten tosses, showing their dominance. Meanwhile, other top athletes like Wesley Derwinsky and Mitchell Hooper performed well but fell short. Finally, the event’s fast pace and tough conditions set the stage for an intense final round.
