The 2025 World’s Strongest Man Finals have arrived in Sacramento. Next, the top 10 athletes—winners and runners-up from each of five groups—advance from a two-day Qualifying stage. Then, these finalists will confront five more events to decide the champion.
Meanwhile, the Qualifying stage influences more than the roster for the first time. Specifically, officials ranked athletes across the entire field, not just within groups. Consequently, every strongman carries into the Finals a score worth one full event.
Accordingly, Mitchell Hooper finished Qualifying in first place. Thus, he begins the Finals with 10 points. Moreover, he holds the “Leader’s Advantage,” letting him run last in the KNAACK Carry & Hoist alongside defending champion Tom Stoltman.
In the opener, each athlete Zercher carried 250 kilograms for 20 meters and arm-over-arm hoisted 200 kilograms eight meters. Initially, attention centered on the expected duel between Hooper and Stoltman. However, Rayno Nel stunned observers by winning the event with nearly four seconds to spare.

2025 World’s Strongest ManKNAACK Carry & Hoist Recap
Eddie Williams vs. Pavlo Kordiyaka
Eddie Williams and Pavlo Kordiyaka faced off in the opening heat. Both entered as the lowest seeds after qualifying, tasked with setting an early pace. The pressure rested heavily on their shoulders.
Next, Kordiyaka pulled ahead quickly during the initial 20-meter Zercher carry. Williams, however, closed the gap after the 10-meter turnaround. The race tightened as they sprinted to the hoist.
Finally, Williams reached the hoist first and dropped the weight with speed. Yet, Kordiyaka’s rapid arm-over-arm cycle gave him the edge. He outpaced Williams by a narrow margin, setting the time to beat.
Ondrej Fojtů vs. Shane Flowers
Ondrej Fojtů and Shane Flowers knew the pace they needed to beat. They launched simultaneously into the carry and hoist. Their strategy hinged on smooth coordination.
Suddenly, disaster struck. Flowers lost grip, dropped the hoist, and collapsed. Medical personnel rushed to assist him as he writhed on the ground, face turning purplish. The audience held its breath in concern.
Despite the chaos, Fojtů pressed forward alone. Meanwhile, Flowers was revived, but the interruption left questions. Ultimately, Kordiyaka’s time remained the standard to beat for this heat.

Paddy Haynes vs. Luke Stoltman
To start, Paddy Haynes entered the stage confidently, energized and ready. Luke Stoltman followed closely, carrying the fierce focus of a veteran champion. The tension between youth and experience filled the arena.
Next, they matched strides through the Zercher carry, their pace neck and neck. At the 10-meter mark, both shed their weight belts to gain speed for the hoist. Their determination was palpable.
In the end, Haynes held onto his lead and claimed victory in the heat. Stoltman acknowledged the challenge with a smile and a congratulatory nod. The contest between them was one of respect and fierce competition.
Trey Mitchell vs. Rayno Nel
At first, Rayno Nel took the stage with swagger. This event suited his style perfectly. Trey Mitchell followed with measured calm, relying on brute strength over speed.
Then, Nel surged ahead on the carry. His pace was unmatched, and he kept the pressure on throughout the hoist. Mitchell struggled to keep up but pressed with determination.
Finally, Nel crossed the finish line more than a lap ahead. His time, just over 30 seconds, set a high bar for the following heats. His performance turned heads and raised expectations.
Tom Stoltman vs. Mitchell Hooper
At the outset, Tom Stoltman and Mitchell Hooper, two of the strongest contenders, faced off. Both moved powerfully down the course, their strides long and confident.
During the hoist, they traded leads, each pushing the other to the limit. The crowd roared as the battle unfolded, excitement reaching a fever pitch.
Afterward, judges convened for a video review. Although it appeared Stoltman hit the down command first, the final call awaited official confirmation. The intensity of this matchup was undeniable.
