The 2025 Strongman Champions League (SCL) World’s Strongest Latino competition gathered the region’s top strongmen on August 2 in Esposende, Portugal. Twelve athletes from eight countries faced off in five demanding events. The crowd watched as raw strength met stamina in a fierce battle for supremacy.

To begin with, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation. The athletes knew they had to be at their peak—each event offered points, and consistency was key. The challenge tested speed, power, and technique, pushing competitors to their limits under the intense Portuguese sun.

In the end, Italy’s 🇮🇹 Andrea Invernizzi dominated. He claimed 52 out of 60 possible points, edging out Argentina’s 🇦🇷 Gianluca Ardenghi by five. Invernizzi’s blend of power and poise earned him the top podium spot.

🥇 Final Standings

Andrea Invernizzi’s balanced performance made him the clear winner. He never finished outside the top six in any event. His consistency was a major factor in clinching gold.

Meanwhile, Gianluca Ardenghi from Argentina stayed competitive throughout. His strong showings in Car Deadlift and Carry & Drag kept him in silver medal position. However, he fell just short of closing the gap.

Finally, Alexandre Hulin of France secured bronze thanks to solid results in the Sandbag Toss and Carry & Drag. His efforts proved critical to securing the third spot in a very competitive field.

Event 1: Truck Pull

To kick off the competition, athletes had one minute to pull a massive 15,000-kilogram truck for 20 meters. Success depended on strength and leg drive combined with timing and technique.

Surprisingly, Spain’s 🇪🇸 Juan Ferrer was the fastest, crossing the finish line in just 31.37 seconds. His explosive power gave him an early advantage and energized the crowd. Italy’s 🇮🇹 Andrea Invernizzi and Argentina’s 🇦🇷 Gianluca Ardenghi followed closely, both finishing within a second.

Conversely, some competitors struggled. Several athletes posted times over 40 seconds, showing just how punishing the event was. This opening test created a clear separation in the field early on.

Rank Athlete Time (Seconds)
1 Juan Ferrer 🇪🇸 31.37
2 Andrea Invernizzi 🇮🇹 31.97
3 Gianluca Ardenghi 🇦🇷 32.19

11 Uriel Gutiérrez 🇲🇽 45.50
12 Adel Esteves 🇫🇷 49.44

Event 2: Car Deadlift

Next, the Car Deadlift tested athletes’ pure pulling strength. Each competitor lifted the car repeatedly for as many reps as possible. This event was a critical test of muscular endurance.

Mexico’s 🇲🇽 Uriel Gutiérrez dominated, achieving 10 reps—the highest count of the day. Invernizzi kept pace with eight reps, while Ardenghi secured seven reps to remain near the top.

Notably, two athletes, including Spain’s 🇪🇸 Juan Ferrer and Daniel Aroca, failed to complete a lift. This setback underscored the car deadlift’s punishing demands.

Event 3: Log Lift

Then came the Log Lift, a true test of overhead pressing strength and stamina. Each athlete had to press a 140-kilogram log as many times as possible.

Andrea Invernizzi 🇮🇹, Uriel Gutiérrez 🇲🇽, and Flávio Nunes 🇧🇷 all matched six reps to share first place. Their performance highlighted the importance of technical skill and power endurance.

Meanwhile, Ardenghi 🇦🇷, Hulin 🇫🇷, and Mota 🇵🇹 tied with four reps each. Several competitors, including the Spanish athletes, failed to register a lift in this event.

Event 4: Sandbag Toss

Following that, athletes faced the Sandbag Toss. They had to throw five bags weighing between 20 and 28 kilograms over a high bar as fast as possible.

Andrea Invernizzi 🇮🇹 was unbeatable here, clearing all five bags in 20.03 seconds. Alexandre Hulin 🇫🇷 and Uriel Gutiérrez 🇲🇽 also completed all five but were slightly slower.

In contrast, some athletes struggled to get past three or four bags. Spain’s 🇪🇸 Daniel Aroca was unable to complete a single toss.

11 Juan Ferrer 🇪🇸 1 / 10.12 sec
12 Daniel Aroca 🇪🇸 0

Event 5: Carry & Drag

Finally, the Carry & Drag event closed the competition. Athletes carried and dragged weights over a course three times. Speed and endurance were paramount.

Argentina’s Gianluca Ardenghi 🇦🇷 turned in the best time: 23.5 seconds. He pushed hard in the closing moments, hoping to close the gap on Invernizzi.

Nevertheless, Andrea Invernizzi 🇮🇹 finished sixth in this event but had already amassed enough points to secure the overall gold. His strategy paid off as the dust settled.
