The 2025 Strongman Champions League (SCL) Latvia took place on May 3 in Riga, Latvia. Initially, twelve athletes from ten countries gathered for the one-day contest. Notably, they faced five grueling events: the Truck Pull, Log Lift, Sandbag Toss, Loading Race, and Atlas Stones.
Right from the start, Aivars Šmaukstelis took control on home soil. Then, he maintained his momentum with dominant and consistent finishes in each event. Consequently, he scored 53 out of 60 possible points to secure the overall victory. Ultimately, the hometown crowd witnessed their favorite claim gold in emphatic fashion.
Meanwhile, Audrius Jokūbaitis of Lithuania pushed hard throughout the day. After a strong opening, he continued to challenge Šmaukstelis event after event. Still, he came up just short and finished in second place. Nevertheless, his performance proved he remains a threat in the 2025 strongman season.
Finally, Germany’s Patrick Eibel rounded out the podium. Though he didn’t win any single event, he stayed consistent across the board. As a result, he earned enough points to edge out the rest of the field. In the end, all three medalists delivered impressive performances in one of SCL’s toughest contests.

In second place, Audrius Jokūbaitis scored 47.5 points. Although he delivered solid performances throughout, he couldn’t catch Šmaukstelis in the final standings. Still, Jokūbaitis’s overall consistency placed him firmly in the top positions.
Meanwhile, Patrick Eibel of Germany earned third place with 41.5 points. Although he excelled in a few events, his overall performance wasn’t enough to surpass the top two. Nevertheless, his strong finishes in specific events earned him a spot on the podium.

The Truck Pull set the tone for the competition. Audrius Jokūbaitis delivered an impressive time of 28.22 seconds, setting the pace early on. His speed and power were crucial, allowing him to take the lead in the first event.
Next, Patrick Eibel followed closely with a time of 31.03 seconds. Though his performance was strong, it wasn’t enough to dethrone Jokūbaitis. Kelvin de Ruiter completed the event in 32.41 seconds, securing third place for the time being.
However, Aivars Šmaukstelis, despite being one of the strongest competitors, finished sixth in this event with a time of 33.84 seconds. Although not at the top, his solid time kept him in contention for the overall victory.

Meanwhile, Māris Krievelis of Latvia placed second, lifting eight logs with impressive technique. Moreover, his effort kept him in the running, but he still lagged behind Šmaukstelis. Didzis Zariņš came in third with seven reps, adding to Latvia’s strong showing in the competition.
On the other hand, several competitors struggled. Kevin Faires and Patrick Eibel tied for fourth with six reps each. Additionally, Jesper Hansson and Jakub Szczechowski failed to complete a lift, leaving them with a significant points deficit in the standings.

Next, the Sandbag Toss event showed Aivars Šmaukstelis continuing his dominance. He completed six tosses in just 17.79 seconds, making it look effortless. His quick execution put him in an uncatchable lead.
Similarly, Péter Juhász followed closely, completing six tosses in 18.20 seconds. His performance remained strong, keeping him in the hunt for a top position. Patrick Eibel also performed well, finishing third with six tosses in 19.14 seconds.
However, some competitors struggled in this event. Kelvin de Ruiter managed only five tosses, while Didzis Zariņš finished with five in 19.95 seconds. This event proved challenging for many, and fatigue began to show in the later stages.

Next, Audrius Jokūbaitis finished second with a time of 24.16 seconds. Although he gave a strong effort, it wasn’t enough to best Juhász. Meanwhile, Aivars Šmaukstelis completed the loading in 25.62 seconds, finishing third and maintaining his overall lead.
However, several other competitors struggled. Kevin Faires and Jesper Hansson both took over 30 seconds to finish the race, costing them valuable points. This slower pace hurt their chances of climbing higher in the overall rankings.

Finally, in the Atlas Stones, Šmaukstelis sealed his victory with a time of 48.14 seconds. His performance in this event was exemplary, showing his strength and endurance. With this, he ensured that his first-place finish remained uncontested.
Didzis Zariņš followed closely, completing the stones in 55.42 seconds. His effort placed him second in the event and kept him near the top of the overall rankings. Jesper Hansson finished third with a time of 69.07 seconds, securing another strong finish.
Unfortunately, Audrius Jokūbaitis was unable to complete all six stones, finishing with five in 44.54 seconds. Despite this, his earlier performances kept him in second place overall. Patrick Eibel, too, could only manage four stones in 48.85 seconds, which ultimately cost him a chance at a higher finish.
