Shanique Grant made a strong statement in her new division. On Saturday, June 7, she won the 2025 Southern California Pro in San Diego, California. This marked her first professional win since switching to the Wellness category. The victory reintroduces her as a top-tier force in the IFBB circuit.

Importantly, the event served as a 2025 Olympia qualifier. As a result, Grant’s triumph earned her an official invitation to compete at the Olympia. That competition, scheduled for October 9–12 in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the biggest stage in the sport. She now has four months to refine her package before stepping under the bright lights.

Previously, Grant was best known as a two-time Women’s Physique Olympia champion. However, she left the sport in 2020, citing health and personal reasons. Eventually, she returned with a renewed focus and a fresh category — Wellness — where lower body development plays a larger role.

Now, the landscape shifts with Grant’s return. She brings both name recognition and elite genetics to a growing division. As the 2025 Olympia approaches, all eyes will be on how her physique stacks up against the best in the world.

🏆 2025 Southern California Pro — Wellness Division Recap

The 2025 Southern California Pro took place on Saturday, June 7, in San Diego, California. This Wellness division event served as an official Olympia qualifier for the 2025 season. Athletes from across the Americas and Europe competed for a spot on bodybuilding’s biggest stage.

Notably, the show featured a major storyline. Former two-time Women’s Physique Olympia champion Shanique Grant stepped into her new category. With a lifetime invite to the Physique division, she still needed to earn her way into the Wellness Olympia lineup.

Now, thanks to her dominant performance, Grant is headed to Las Vegas. The 2025 Wellness Olympia takes place from October 9–12, and she will be among the top names to watch. Her transition could reshape the landscape of the division entirely.

🥇 Winner — Shanique Grant

To begin with, Shanique Grant earned her first pro victory in the Wellness division. She looked confident and composed on stage, clearly outmuscling the competition in shape and balance. Her stage presence and conditioning sealed the win.

Importantly, Grant entered this show with only one previous Wellness outing under her belt. Despite her legacy in Women’s Physique, this new division required a fresh qualification. Her successful transition is now official.

Looking ahead, she could make history. If Grant wins the 2025 Wellness Olympia, she would join Derek Lunsford as one of the only athletes to win Olympia titles in two different divisions.

🥈 Second Place — Lilian Nava

Next, Lilian Nava of Mexico delivered a strong performance to earn second place. She improved upon her third-place finish at the 2025 Legion Sports Fest Pro just one week earlier. Her momentum appears to be building as the season progresses.

Currently in her third year as a pro, Nava is chasing her first career win. She’s consistently near the top of the lineup but still needs a gold medal to punch her Olympia ticket. This result brings her one step closer.

Going forward, Nava remains a serious contender. If she continues refining her shape and timing her peaks, she could capture a victory before the Olympia qualification cutoff on September 14.

🥉 Third Place — Narla Vilar

Meanwhile, Brazil’s Narla Vilar returned to action with a third-place finish. She last competed at the 2024 Wellness Olympia, where she tied for 16th. This contest marked her official 2025 season debut.

Despite the long break, Vilar showed improvements across her presentation. Still, she will need to secure a first-place finish if she hopes to return to the Olympia stage this year. The qualification deadline is fast approaching.

At this point, her strategy will likely involve targeting smaller pro shows. With experience on the Olympia stage already under her belt, she remains a threat to take a win before the season wraps up.

📌 Other Notes

Notably, this was one of two pro Wellness contests held over the same weekend. The other took place in Toronto, Canada, as part of the 2025 Toronto Pro Supershow. Together, both events helped shape the road to the Olympia.

Furthermore, the Southern California Pro offered another look at emerging talents. Several athletes, such as Marbely Ventura and Sara Pereira, showed potential to break into higher ranks. As the season continues, these names may rise fast.

Looking ahead, every remaining contest now carries added weight. With just a few months left in the qualifying season, the battle for Wellness Olympia spots will only grow more intense.
