Derek Lunsford made history by winning the first-ever Men’s Open contest at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro. The event took place on Saturday, May 10, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Previously, the Men’s Open division had only been featured in guest posing exhibitions. Now, for the first time, it was an official IFBB Pro League showdown.
Importantly, the Pittsburgh Pro is organized each year by IFBB Pro League president Jim Manion. Each season, it stands as one of the most anticipated events in bodybuilding. In this year’s edition, 14 athletes competed for a $100,000 prize and a qualification to the 2025 Mr. Olympia. However, Lunsford had already secured his Olympia qualification as a former champion.
Meanwhile, Nick Walker delivered a strong performance and secured second place. Then, Martin Fitzwater claimed third in what turned out to be a closely judged event. Ultimately, Lunsford’s win marked a major milestone. The Pittsburgh Pro’s Men’s Open debut is now a permanent chapter in bodybuilding history.

2025 Pittsburgh Pro Lunsford Victorious
Derek Lunsford stood atop the podium at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro, winning the first-ever Men’s Open title in the contest’s history. The show took place at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on May 10.
Previously, the Pittsburgh Pro had only featured Men’s Open athletes in guest-posing roles. This year, the division took center stage in official competition. As a result, the event attracted some of the world’s best talent.
The final top five standings were:
- Derek Lunsford
- Nick Walker
- Martin Fitzwater
- William Bonac
- Michal Krizanek
During prejudging, judges focused on Lunsford, Walker, Fitzwater, and Bonac. Each spent time in the middle of the final callout. However, the battle between Lunsford and Walker took over the stage by the end.
According to head judge Steve Weinberger, the panel couldn’t make a final call without another look. In fact, the scores revealed a dead tie between Lunsford and Walker after two rounds. Therefore, a rare tiebreaker was held.
Then came the most dramatic moment of the evening. Lunsford and Walker posed head-to-head as fans cheered from both sides. Ultimately, the judges awarded Lunsford the win, completing his “triple crown” — the Mr. Olympia, Arnold Classic, and Pittsburgh Pro.

Elsewhere, two other divisions crowned champions. Terrence Ruffin claimed Classic Physique. Erin Banks secured the Men’s Physique title.
The event continues on Sunday, May 11, with competition in Figure, Bikini, Women’s Physique, and Wellness. Colosseum Strength will provide a full recap once the final trophies are awarded.
