The 2025 New York Pro is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, in Teaneck, N.J. As in years past, the event will be promoted by Steve Weinberger. This year marks the 21st edition of the long-running competition.

Meanwhile, the contest will serve as a 2025 Olympia qualifier. It will include nine of the 11 IFBB Professional League divisions. However, the Wheelchair and Fitness categories will not be featured.

As a result, each division winner will earn a qualification for the Olympia Weekend. That show is set for Oct. 9–12, 2025, in Las Vegas. The stakes are high, and the competition is expected to be fierce.

Still, there is one important rule. If a winner is already qualified, the Olympia invitation will not be passed down. Instead, that spot will remain vacant.

The main event

The main event at the 2025 New York Pro is the Men’s Open division. This year’s field features several stars. Among them, three early favorites stand out heading into the weekend, according to Colosseum Strength’s latest coverage.

Nick Walker

First, there is Nick Walker. He won this contest in 2021 and 2024. However, he did not commit to this year’s event until after finishing second to Derek Lunsford at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro. It is important to note that Walker still needs a win to qualify for the 2025 Mr. Olympia. If he wins here, he will become the first three-time champion in the contest’s history. For these reasons, Walker is the early favorite.

Regan Grimes

Next, Regan Grimes makes his return. He sat out the entire 2024 season and plans to make this show his 2025 season debut. Fans are eager to see how a showdown between Grimes and Walker unfolds in Teaneck. Grimes won this contest in 2018, but in the Classic Physique division. Should he claim gold this time, he would be the first athlete to win the New York Pro in two different divisions.

William Bonac

Finally, William Bonac is a contender to watch. He is a two-time Arnold Classic champion and has already qualified for the Olympia by winning the 2025 Detroit Pro. Despite turning pro in 2012, Bonac has never competed at the New York Pro before this year. He is coming off a fourth-place finish in Pittsburgh and remains a strong competitor.
