The 2025 Moscow Sports Cup took place on May 31 in the heart of Russia’s capital. As expected, the contest drew nine athletes, all representing the home country. In total, they faced six grueling strongman events. Without delay, the action kicked off in front of an energetic local crowd.

First, the Overhead Medley tested explosive upper-body strength. Then, athletes rushed through the Loading Race, where speed and stamina made the difference. After that, the Deadlift Hold punished grip endurance, while the Sandbag Toss required precision and power. Following those, the Shield Carry drained every ounce of stamina. Finally, the Stone Over Bar sealed the final rankings.

Meanwhile, Alexander Klokov showed impressive consistency throughout all six events. In fact, he scored 45.5 out of a possible 54 points. Clearly, his steady performance outpaced the rest of the field. Notably, this was Klokov’s first win at a regional-level strongman show.

By the end, Klokov stood tall as the undisputed champion. As a result, he earned more than just a trophy—he gained national attention. Going forward, fans expect to see him compete on international stages. Undoubtedly, Moscow was just the beginning for Klokov’s rise.

Here is the rewritten version in the requested format. The paragraphs follow the New York Times style, with short, punchy sentences and real transition words at the start of each sentence. Tables for each event are included with a clean layout.

Overhead Medley

First, the athletes faced the Overhead Medley. Each man had 90 seconds to lift five implements, ranging from a 130-kilogram log to a 110-kilogram dumbbell. The challenge demanded speed and overhead power.

Notably, Roman Druzhinin led the field. He completed all five lifts in just 46.41 seconds. Dmitrii Samoilov and Ramil Ramazanov also finished the full medley, showing strong pressing endurance.

However, Alexander Klokov had a slower time than the top three. Even so, he still completed all five implements, banking valuable points early.

Athlete 🇷🇺 Result
Roman Druzhinin Five in 46.41 seconds
Dmitrii Samoilov Five in 48.5 seconds
Ramil Ramazanov Five in 60.25 seconds
Alexander Klokov Five in 66.34 seconds
Valentin Akimov Four in 36.87 seconds

Loading Race

Next, the Loading Race brought another test of agility and speed. Competitors raced to load a 90-kilogram tire, a 100-kilogram tire, and a 120-kilogram sack within one minute.

This time, Klokov delivered a statement. He completed all three implements in just 29.38 seconds. Right behind him, Samoilov and Druzhinin stayed close, but couldn’t match his speed.

Still, the middle of the pack stayed tight. Athletes like Konovalov and Ramazanov remained consistent to keep their overall scores strong.

Athlete 🇷🇺 Result
Alexander Klokov Three in 29.38 seconds
Dmitrii Samoilov Three in 29.57 seconds
Roman Druzhinin Three in 32.06 seconds

Alexander Kuzmin Three in 43.43 seconds
Egor Makarov Three in 49.97 seconds

Deadlift Hold

Then came the Deadlift Hold. Athletes held 150 kilograms in each hand for as long as possible. This event tested grip strength and pain tolerance.

Clearly, Klokov showed elite durability, holding on for 65.81 seconds. Konovalov came close with 61.93 seconds, gaining ground on the field.

Meanwhile, Akimov’s time of 53.66 seconds kept him within striking distance of the top spot.

Surprisingly, Akimov and Konovalov tied at the top. Both reached 11.92 meters. Klokov came in third, adding more points to his growing lead.

However, some contenders lost ground. Samoilov and Druzhinin failed to crack nine meters, hurting their medal chances.

Then came the Shield Carry. Athletes struggled to carry a 140-kilogram shield for maximum distance.

Impressively, Akimov walked for 90 meters to win the event. Druzhinin followed with 87.5 meters. Klokov, though third, still secured decent points with 62.5 meters.

Conversely, several athletes faltered. Makarov barely moved the shield, and Kuzmin failed to lift it at all.

Roman Druzhinin 87.5 meters
Alexander Klokov 62.5 meters
Dmitrii Samoilov 55 meters (T-fourth)

Stone Over Bar

Finally, the Stone Over Bar closed the contest. Each man had 90 seconds to lift a 135-kilogram stone over a bar as many times as possible.

In this last test, Akimov delivered seven reps, the highest of the day. Klokov followed with six, while Samoilov tied him.

Thus, the event sealed Klokov’s win. Even without placing first, he held his ground and left Moscow with the title.
