The 2025 Kalita Strongman Show took place on June 6 in Moscow, Russia. This invitational contest brought together eight strongmen, all representing 🇷🇺 Russia, to battle through five grueling events. Notably, the lineup featured national talent eager to prove themselves in front of a home crowd. The events included a Dumbbell Medley, an Axle Deadlift, a Farmer’s Walk and Block Carry Medley, a Truck Pull, and a Stone Over Bar challenge.
Then, David Shamey quickly separated himself from the pack. He delivered dominant performances in multiple events and showed exceptional composure under pressure. In fact, his consistency was unmatched, as he finished with 37 of a possible 40 points. Moreover, he didn’t just win — he overwhelmed the field. His technique and speed across all five events made his gold medal feel inevitable before the final lift.
Meanwhile, Valentin Akimov fought hard to secure silver. At several points, he challenged Shamey’s momentum, particularly in the early rounds. Still, despite placing outside the top two in some events, he showed resilience and managed to hold second overall with 28 points. Additionally, Akimov’s effort in the Truck Pull helped him maintain his lead over the rest of the field. His result was a clear step forward in his strongman career.
Finally, Dmitrii Samoilov rounded out the podium with 26 points. Although he didn’t win any individual event, he consistently stayed near the top of the standings. As a result, his persistence paid off with a bronze finish. Furthermore, his performance demonstrated both balance and endurance — two qualities often overlooked in strongman. With this placing, Samoilov further solidified his status as a top-tier Russian athlete on the rise.
