The 2025 Ireland’s Strongest Man contest was held on May 5 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Then, the single-day event drew 16 competitors from across the country. Altogether, the athletes faced five demanding challenges designed to test raw power and endurance.
Next, the lineup of events included the Bar Bending, Incline Log Press, Truck Arm-Over-Arm, Car Deadlift Hold, and Loading Race. Each time, the events pushed the athletes to their physical limits. In particular, the Truck Arm-Over-Arm and Car Deadlift Hold proved to be crowd favorites.
Meanwhile, Ruairi O’Hagan delivered a consistent and commanding performance. In fact, he claimed 68.5 out of a possible 80 points. As a result, he earned the overall victory and the title of Ireland’s Strongest Man.
Finally, Cillein Groom finished just 1.5 points behind O’Hagan to take second place. Shortly after, Daniel McElroy claimed third and completed the podium. Together, the top three showcased Ireland’s growing strength talent on a national stage.

To open the contest, the bar bending challenge tested sheer grip and explosive strength. Consequently, Dillon Doyle made an early statement, bending three bars in just 33.37 seconds. Notably, he set the fastest time of the event.
Meanwhile, Ray Foley and Jamie McNamara kept things tight. In fact, their times of 36.28 and 37.26 seconds showed just how narrow the margin for error had become. Clearly, every second mattered in this test of pressure and precision.
However, several athletes fell short of three bends. For instance, Cathal McNally and Gerard Buckley each completed just two bars. Still, they showed resilience in what proved to be a brutal start to the competition.

At the same time, both Ruairi O’Hagan and Daniel McElroy tied for second. In total, they managed 12 reps each, keeping the leaderboard battle intense. Significantly, their consistency started to show.
On the other hand, the event exposed a clear gap. Indeed, five athletes failed to press a single rep. Because of that, their chances of podium contention began to fade.

Next came the grueling truck pull—a pure test of power and grit. As the rope tensed, Cillein Groom surged forward with a 44.20-second finish. In doing so, he once again proved his all-around dominance.
Similarly, Daniel McElroy delivered under pressure. With a 44.50-second time, he remained neck-and-neck with the top contenders. Likewise, Ruairi O’Hagan’s 45.59 was just enough to stay in the fight.
By contrast, others began to slip. For example, Jamie McNamara only reached 13.20 meters. Consequently, a single weak event now threatened to unravel earlier gains.

Soon after, Groom continued his top-tier performance. His 102.84-second hold kept him well in podium contention. Additionally, Jordan Breen and Ivan Gannon both crossed the 70-second mark.
Unfortunately, others faltered. Specifically, Dillon Doyle held for only 44.32 seconds, and Gavin McNamee lasted just 12.50. Ultimately, this event widened the gap between the leaders and the pack.

Meanwhile, others failed to complete the full set. For instance, Cillein Groom only loaded four. Despite that, his earlier dominance kept him near the top. In the end, podium positions came down to tenths of a second.
