Sonita Kyen Muluh triumphed with new IPF squat and total world records at the 2025 EPU European Classic Powerlifting Championships held on March 23, 2025, in Malaga, Spain. The event saw Europe’s top powerlifters compete in raw competition, delivering some of the most impressive performances of the year. As a result, new records were set, and the competition showcased the elite strength of athletes from across Europe.

The championship featured 16 weight categories, with eight male and eight female divisions. In each category, the best powerlifters in Europe went head-to-head, pushing their limits to claim victory. Consequently, the event became a battleground for raw power, with records being broken and personal bests reached in nearly every division.

In the women’s +84KG category, Sonita Kyen Muluh stole the show by setting both the IPF Squat World Record and the IPF Total World Record. Her remarkable performance included a 318kg squat, a 152.5kg bench press, and a 265kg deadlift, leading her to a total of 735.5kg. As a result, Muluh’s dominance in the event was undeniable, securing her spot as the top female lifter of the competition.

2025 European Classic Powerlifting Championships Results

The results below are presented in kilograms, indicating squat, bench press, deadlift, and total.

Men’s 59KG

  • Ivan Diaz Campano (ESP) — 207.5/140/260 — 607.5
  • Bryann Siong (FRA) — 210/120/262.5 — 592.5
  • Antoine Garcia (FRA) — 222.5/130/230 — 582.5
  • Dariusz Wszola (POL) — 205/140/190 — 535
  • Bryan Brunetti (ITA) — 175/145/200 — 520

Ivan Diaz Campano from Spain took first place with a total of 607.5kg. His lifts included 207.5kg in the squat, 140kg in the bench press, and 260kg in the deadlift. This solid performance helped him secure the top spot.

However, Bryann Siong from France finished closely behind with a total of 592.5kg. He lifted 210kg in the squat, 120kg in the bench press, and 262.5kg in the deadlift. Despite a strong performance, he couldn’t match the first-place finish.

Meanwhile, Antoine Garcia from France placed third with 582.5kg. His lifts included 222.5kg in the squat, 130kg in the bench press, and 230kg in the deadlift. While not enough for a podium spot, his performance was still impressive.

Men’s 66KG

  • Antti Savolainen (FIN) — 217.5/150/287.5 — 655 (bodyweight: 65.2)
  • Joel Christopher Catena (AUT) — 240/160/255 — 655 (bodyweight: 65.22)
  • Brandon Vigouroux (FRA) — 220/175/260 — 655 (bodyweight: 65.94)
  • Joseph Diva (GBR) — 217.5/160/272.5 — 650
  • Kibria Ali (GBR) — 240/125/280 — 645

Antti Savolainen from Finland dominated with a total of 655kg. He lifted 217.5kg in the squat, 150kg in the bench press, and 287.5kg in the deadlift. This performance made him the standout in this weight class.

Next, Joel Christopher Catena from Austria finished with the same total of 655kg but came second. He lifted 240kg in the squat, 160kg in the bench press, and 255kg in the deadlift. Despite an impressive total, his body weight edged him out of the top spot.

Additionally, Brandon Vigouroux from France also lifted 655kg in total. His squat was 220kg, his bench press 175kg, and his deadlift 260kg. This showed just how closely contested the category was.

Men’s 74KG

  • Kjell Egil Bakkelund (NOR) — 267.5/192.5/315 — 775
  • Joshua Wright (GER) — 247.5/187.5/320 — 755
  • Marcos Albaladejo Castro (ESP) — 260/160/305 — 725
  • Yann Puget (FRA) — 267.5/162.5/292.5 — 722.5
  • Giacomo Cimorri (ITA) — 260/167.5/282.5 — 710

Kjell Egil Bakkelund from Norway led the 74kg category with a total of 775kg. His lifts included 267.5kg in the squat, 192.5kg in the bench press, and 315kg in the deadlift. This performance made him the clear winner.

However, Joshua Wright from Germany finished second with 755kg. He lifted 247.5kg in the squat, 187.5kg in the bench press, and 320kg in the deadlift. While his lifts were strong, Bakkelund’s performance stood out more.

Meanwhile, Marcos Albaladejo Castro from Spain secured third place with 725kg. He lifted 260kg in the squat, 160kg in the bench press, and 305kg in the deadlift. Although he put up a great effort, it wasn’t enough to surpass the top two finishers.

Men’s 83KG

  • Ade Omisakin (GBR) — 302.5/187.5/350 — 840
  • Paul Rembauville (FRA) — 300/172.5/300 — 772.5
  • Sascha Rosskamp (GER) — 267.5/177.5/315 — 760 (bodyweight: 82.14)
  • Robin Petersson (SWE) — 292.5/172.5/295 — 760 (bodyweight: 82.58)
  • Zachariah Ampofo (GER) — 255/160/345 — 760 (bodyweight: 82.78)

Ade Omisakin from Great Britain claimed first place with a total of 840kg. His lifts included 302.5kg in the squat, 187.5kg in the bench press, and 350kg in the deadlift. This was a dominant performance in the 83kg category.

Next, Paul Rembauville from France finished second with 772.5kg. He lifted 300kg in the squat, 172.5kg in the bench press, and 300kg in the deadlift. Despite strong lifts, he couldn’t overcome Omisakin’s total.

In addition, Sascha Rosskamp from Germany placed third with 760kg. His squat was 267.5kg, his bench press 177.5kg, and his deadlift 315kg. He gave it his all, but it wasn’t enough to secure a higher place.

Men’s 93KG

  • Christian Ayandokun (GBR) — 305/205/352.5 — 862.5
  • William Pickering (GBR) — 302.5/187.5/360 — 850
  • Richmond Baiden (FRA) — 310/205/335 — 850
  • Sil Maris (NED) — 302.5/190/330 — 822.5
  • Trygve Sletten (NOR) — 285/185/335 — 805

Christian Ayandokun from Great Britain took the top spot with 862.5kg. His lifts included 305kg in the squat, 205kg in the bench press, and 352.5kg in the deadlift. This was a solid all-around performance.

However, William Pickering, also from Great Britain, placed second with 850kg. He lifted 302.5kg in the squat, 187.5kg in the bench press, and 360kg in the deadlift. Despite a strong showing, it wasn’t enough to overtake Ayandokun.

Meanwhile, Richmond Baiden from France finished third with 850kg as well. His lifts included 310kg in the squat, 205kg in the bench press, and 335kg in the deadlift. While his total matched Pickering’s, his individual lifts didn’t quite compare.

Men’s 105KG

  • Corentin Clement (FRA) — 330/215/375 — 920
  • Emil Norling (SWE) — 337.5/215/360 — 912.5
  • Regin Stergakis (DEN) — 320/225/355 — 900
  • Vladmir Mbassi (SUI) — 305/234/357.5 — 896.5 — IPF Bench Press World Record
  • Timo Jakobi (GER) — 322.5/192.5/337.5 — 852.5

Corentin Clement from France topped the 105kg category with 920kg. He lifted 330kg in the squat, 215kg in the bench press, and 375kg in the deadlift. His performance was exceptional and earned him first place.

Next, Emil Norling from Sweden placed second with 912.5kg. His squat was 337.5kg, his bench press 215kg, and his deadlift 360kg. While he had a strong total, Clement’s lifts were slightly superior.

Additionally, Regin Stergakis from Denmark secured third with 900kg. He lifted 320kg in the squat, 225kg in the bench press, and 355kg in the deadlift. His effort was commendable but couldn’t match the other competitors.

Men’s 120KG

  • Nonso Chinye (GBR) — 352.5/212.5/400 — 965 — IPF Deadlift World Record, IPF Junior Deadlift World Record
  • Nicolas Peyraud (FRA) — 330/220/380 — 930
  • Victor Vazquez H-Carrillo (ESP) — 350/225/355 — 930
  • Kristof Bence Budai (HUN) — 342.5/222.5/332.5 — 897.5
  • Baruch Sekenofsky (ISR) — 342.5/212.5/330 — 885

Nonso Chinye from Great Britain was the standout in the 120kg category with 965kg. He lifted 352.5kg in the squat, 212.5kg in the bench press, and 400kg in the deadlift. His performance was powerful.

However, Nicolas Peyraud from France came in second with 930kg. His lifts were 330kg in the squat, 220kg in the bench press, and 380kg in the deadlift. While his performance was solid, it wasn’t enough to challenge Chinye for first place.

Meanwhile, Victor Vazquez H-Carrillo from Spain matched Peyraud’s total of 930kg but placed third. He lifted 350kg in the squat, 225kg in the bench press, and 355kg in the deadlift. Though his lifts were strong, Chinye’s total was out of reach.

Men’s +120KG

  • Viktor Holinei (UKR) — 377.5/271/345 — 993.5
  • Cenk Kocak (TUR) — 360/245/370 — 975
  • Bjorn Andre Sutterud Westbye (NOR) — 405/210/340 — 955
  • Markus Patschke (GER) — 377.5/262.5/315 — 955
  • Paul Kirkbride-Richards (GBR) — 385/230/335 — 950

Viktor Holinei from Ukraine finished in first place with 993.5kg. He lifted 377.5kg in the squat, 271kg in the bench press, and 345kg in the deadlift. This was a powerful performance that solidified his top spot.

However, Cenk Kocak from Turkey took second with 975kg. His squat was 360kg, his bench press 245kg, and his deadlift 370kg. While his lifts were strong, Holinei’s performance outshone him.

Lastly, Bjorn Andre Sutterud Westbye from Norway secured third place with 955kg. He lifted 405kg in the squat, 210kg in the bench press, and 340kg in the deadlift. His squat was impressive, but it wasn’t enough to surpass the other competitors.

Here are the 2025 European Classic Powerlifting Championships Women’s results:

Women’s 47KG

  • Miriam Sanchez Gutierrez (ESP) — 112.5/75/127.5 — 315
  • Joanne Clarke (IRL) — 110/60/135 — 305
  • Mariam Tsetskhladze (GEO) — 97.5/55/135 — 287.5
  • Mari Beglarashvili (GEO) — 90/65/127.5 — 282.5

Miriam Sanchez Gutierrez from Spain took the lead with a total of 315kg. She lifted 112.5kg in the squat, 75kg in the bench press, and 127.5kg in the deadlift. This performance earned her the top spot.

Next, Joanne Clarke from Ireland placed second with a total of 305kg. She achieved 110kg in the squat, 60kg in the bench press, and 135kg in the deadlift. Although she showed great strength, her total couldn’t surpass Gutierrez.

Finally, Mariam Tsetskhladze from Georgia finished third with a total of 287.5kg. She lifted 97.5kg in the squat, 55kg in the bench press, and 135kg in the deadlift. Despite her solid lifts, she fell short of the podium spots.

Women’s 52KG

  • Pleun Dekkers (NED) — 175/90/177.5 — 442.5
  • Noemie Allabert (FRA) — 162.5/85/185 — 432.5
  • Jelena Bijelic (AUT) — 147.5/97.5/180 — 425
  • Cosmiana Montanaro (ITA) — 145/75/182.5 — 402.5
  • Ilaria Barbieri (ITA) — 142.5/80/180 — 402.5

Pleun Dekkers from the Netherlands claimed first place with a remarkable total of 442.5kg. She performed 175kg in the squat, 90kg in the bench press, and 177.5kg in the deadlift, securing her position at the top.

Then, Noemie Allabert from France placed second with a total of 432.5kg. She achieved 162.5kg in the squat, 85kg in the bench press, and 185kg in the deadlift. Though her lifts were strong, they couldn’t challenge Dekkers’ total.

In third place, Jelena Bijelic from Austria finished with 425kg. She lifted 147.5kg in the squat, 97.5kg in the bench press, and 180kg in the deadlift. Despite a competitive performance, she couldn’t secure a higher rank.

Women’s 57KG

  • Sovannphaktra Pal (FRA) — 175/100/210 — 485
  • Maiara da Silva Dias (ESP) — 182.5/100/197.5 — 480
  • Adejoke Adetayo (GBR) — 185/87.5/202.5 — 475
  • Miriam Amri (NED) — 167.5/90/200 — 457.5
  • Elena Zuccaro (ITA) — 165/102.5/172.5 — 440

Sovannphaktra Pal from France led the pack with an impressive total of 485kg. She lifted 175kg in the squat, 100kg in the bench press, and 210kg in the deadlift, placing her in first.

In second place, Maiara da Silva Dias from Spain performed 182.5kg in the squat, 100kg in the bench press, and 197.5kg in the deadlift, reaching a total of 480kg. Although her lifts were close to first place, they weren’t enough to surpass Pal’s total.

Adejoke Adetayo from Great Britain secured third place with a total of 475kg. She lifted 185kg in the squat, 87.5kg in the bench press, and 202.5kg in the deadlift. Despite strong lifts, her total fell just short of the top two finishers.

Women’s 63KG

  • Kaylee-Sue Danies (NED) — 192.5/112.5/207.5 — 512.5
  • Makeda Vidal (GBR) — 192.5/97.5/205 — 495
  • Sabrina Downes (GBR) — 175/112.5/205 — 492.5
  • Sahyuri Lalime (BEL) — 182.5/92.5/200 — 475
  • Inmaculada Soto Ruiz (ESP) — 167.5/102.5/200 — 470

Kaylee-Sue Danies from the Netherlands dominated this category with a total of 512.5kg. She lifted 192.5kg in the squat, 112.5kg in the bench press, and 207.5kg in the deadlift, taking first place.

Next, Makeda Vidal from Great Britain earned second place with 495kg. She performed 192.5kg in the squat, 97.5kg in the bench press, and 205kg in the deadlift. Despite her solid lifts, they weren’t enough to overcome Danies’ total.

Sabrina Downes, also from Great Britain, finished in third place with 492.5kg. She lifted 175kg in the squat, 112.5kg in the bench press, and 205kg in the deadlift. While her performance was impressive, it couldn’t match the top two.

Women’s 69KG

  • Marte Kjenner (NOR) — 197.5/127.5/227.5 — 552.5
  • Andorina Bouchoux (FRA) — 202.5/115/230 — 547.5

Marte Kjenner from Norway took first place with 552.5kg. She lifted 197.5kg in the squat, 127.5kg in the bench press, and 227.5kg in the deadlift, dominating the category.

Then, Andorina Bouchoux from France followed closely with 547.5kg. She achieved 202.5kg in the squat, 115kg in the bench press, and 230kg in the deadlift. Despite a strong total, she couldn’t beat Kjenner’s performance.

Marie-Jose van Daal from the Netherlands finished third with a total of 532.5kg. She lifted 187.5kg in the squat, 117.5kg in the bench press, and 227.5kg in the deadlift. Her efforts were strong but not enough for a higher ranking.

Women’s 76KG

  • Clara Peyraud (FRA) — 197.5/130/240 — 567.5 (bodyweight: 74.24)
  • Laura Mautalen (FRA) — 190/142.5/235 — 567.5 (bodyweight: 74.74)

Laura Mautalen, also from France, placed second with 567.5kg. She performed 190kg in the squat, 142.5kg in the bench press, and 235kg in the deadlift. Despite the same total as Peyraud, her bodyweight slightly edged her out.

Lucy Stefanikova from Iceland finished third with 563.5kg. She lifted 211kg in the squat, 120kg in the bench press, and 232.5kg in the deadlift. Although her lifts were impressive, they couldn’t top the first two competitors.

Aquinn Onuoha from Great Britain finished second with 638kg. She lifted 250kg in the squat, 115kg in the bench press, and 268kg in the deadlift. Her performance was impressive but couldn’t match Kyen Muluh’s record-breaking lifts.

Finally, Amelie Mierger from France secured third place with 582.5kg. She performed 217.5kg in the squat, 147.5kg in the bench press, and 212.5kg in the deadlift. Despite a solid performance, her total wasn’t enough to challenge the top two finishers.
