The 2025 England’s Strongest Man took place on July 20 in York. The one-day event tested 12 elite strongmen across five brutal disciplines. The roster included national champions, World’s Strongest Man finalists, and hungry newcomers. All athletes aimed to earn the coveted title and a place in strongman history.
Each event demanded more than strength. Competitors had to balance power, agility, and precision under pressure. The scoring was unforgiving, and the slightest mistake often proved costly. Points were awarded based on placement in each event, with a maximum of 12 points per event.
In the end, 🇬🇧 Paddy Haynes came out on top. He finished with 50 points, narrowly beating 🇬🇧 Andrew Flynn, who totaled 49.5. Defending champion 🇬🇧 Kane Francis placed third with 46.5. Haynes’s consistency and top placements across multiple events sealed the win.

Deadlift Ladder
The Deadlift Ladder kicked off the day with raw intensity. Athletes faced four progressively heavier barbells, with a time cap of 60 seconds. The format rewarded speed, grip strength, and technique under pressure. Mistimed lifts or missed transitions often cost seconds that couldn’t be regained.
Veteran 🇬🇧 Graham Hicks showcased his world-class pulling strength. He completed all four lifts in just 22.84 seconds, winning the event. 🇬🇧 Ryan Bennett followed closely behind at 33.46 seconds. 🇬🇧 Andrew Flynn also performed well, locking out the fourth bar at 34.51 seconds. All three set the early pace in the competition.
🇬🇧 Paddy Haynes didn’t win this event, but his time of 37.24 seconds was enough for a solid fourth-place finish. That result kept him in contention while limiting damage. Several others, including 🇬🇧 Dean Mason and 🇬🇧 Tom Owens, struggled with the heavier weights and could not complete the full ladder.

Shield Carry
The Shield Carry followed next, challenging athletes’ grip endurance and cardiovascular capacity. Each competitor lifted a massive stone shield and carried it for max distance without dropping. The event favored those with core control and high pain tolerance.
🇬🇧 Paddy Haynes delivered a dominant performance. He carried the shield for 77.94 meters, far outpacing the rest of the field. His steady pace and focus earned him a crucial event win. 🇬🇧 Andrew Flynn secured second place with 60.00 meters. 🇬🇧 Ben Glasscock placed third with a distance of 56.45 meters.
Several others fought hard but couldn’t keep the pace. 🇬🇧 Graham Hicks and 🇬🇧 Ryan Bennett finished lower in this event, which impacted their overall standing. Meanwhile, 🇬🇧 Dean Mason and 🇬🇧 Tom Owens delivered gritty performances, though their shorter distances kept them in the bottom half.

Super Yoke
The Super Yoke demanded explosive movement with a massive load across the shoulders. Athletes raced to carry the heavy frame down a set course, balancing speed and control. A stumble or drop could destroy any momentum.
🇬🇧 Paddy Haynes posted the fastest time: 12.47 seconds. He moved with confidence and remained upright under pressure. 🇬🇧 Kane Francis trailed closely, finishing in 14.02 seconds. 🇬🇧 Andrew Flynn took third place again, maintaining strong form throughout. The top three proved their athleticism under load.
Further down the list, 🇬🇧 Tom Owens couldn’t complete the course and was marked DNF. 🇬🇧 Dean Mason and 🇬🇧 Dan McNicholas struggled with time, falling outside the top 10. As expected, the Super Yoke separated the contenders from the rest.

Log Lift
The Log Lift tested shoulder strength and repetition under time. Athletes were given 60 seconds to lift a fixed-weight log overhead for as many reps as possible. Form and lockout control were critical.
🇬🇧 Jack Osborn stunned the crowd with nine clean reps, taking the win. Four athletes tied with six reps, including 🇬🇧 Andrew Flynn, 🇬🇧 Kane Francis, 🇬🇧 Ben Glasscock, and 🇬🇧 Paul Smith. That tie created a tight points spread among the leaders. Each repetition counted, especially in a field where every point mattered.
🇬🇧 Paddy Haynes managed five reps, securing mid-pack points but avoiding disaster. 🇬🇧 Graham Hicks and 🇬🇧 Ryan Bennett matched his effort. On the lower end, 🇬🇧 Tom Owens, 🇬🇧 Dean Mason, and 🇬🇧 Dan McNicholas recorded zero reps.

Sandbag Medley
The final event pushed athletes to the limit. The Sandbag Medley combined speed, grip, and full-body fatigue. Athletes rushed to load four sandbags of increasing weight onto a platform, racing against the clock.
🇬🇧 Paddy Haynes closed strong, finishing in 32.22 seconds. That time won him the event and solidified his overall victory. 🇬🇧 Ben Glasscock and 🇬🇧 Kane Francis followed close behind. 🇬🇧 Andrew Flynn finished just outside the top three but secured enough points to hold second overall.
🇬🇧 Graham Hicks couldn’t recover from his earlier performances, loading only three bags. Others, like 🇬🇧 Dan McNicholas and 🇬🇧 Jack Osborn, also faltered under the time pressure. The medley wrapped the contest with drama and exhaustion in equal measure.

| 1 | 🇬🇧 Paddy Haynes | 4 in 32.22 sec |
