The field at the 2025 CrossFit Games continued to evolve on Day 3, where athletes returned to MVP Arena in Albany, NY for the pivotal Event 8 test. Coming into Sunday, only 38 points separated the top six men, and no clear favorites had emerged across either division. Every rep, calorie, and carry began to take on more weight.
The day opened with an event unlike any other—“Going Dark”—which combined Echo bike intensity with skill-demanding handstand push-ups and heavy yoke carries. Accordingly, athletes were pushed into unfamiliar territory as pacing and pain tolerance collided. The stage was set for major changes.
Importantly, 2025 CrossFit Games Event 8 Results showed a major shake-up in both leaderboards. Some veterans delivered under pressure, while others faltered. As the event concluded, new podium contenders emerged, and the margin for error narrowed significantly with only two tests left.
Above all, the weekend’s chaos highlighted one constant: Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr remains the most dangerous athlete in the sport. Though she briefly surrendered the leader’s jersey on Saturday, her dominance returned with force on Sunday.

“And, of course, Tia looked as dominant as ever.”
Men’s Event 8 demanded precision under fatigue: 50/40 Echo bike calories, a 100-foot yoke carry, 30 deficit handstand push-ups, another 100-foot yoke carry, and then a final 50/40 Echo bike sprint. The engine and balance test caused chaos across the field.
Austin Hatfield made the most of the moment. Entering the day in eighth overall and 34 points outside of a podium spot, he pushed an aggressive pace and crushed the handstand push-ups in large sets. As a result, he not only took his first event win of the weekend but also moved up to sixth in the overall standings with 582 points—just 10 points behind third.
Meanwhile, Justin Medeiros suffered a heavy blow. After starting the event in fourth place, he never found a rhythm and finished 23rd. As a result, he dropped to eighth overall, severely hurting his chances for a podium finish.
