Moscow hosted its second Sports Night Strongman contest of 2025 on August 16, where seven athletes battled for dominance. The one-day show featured five traditional strength tests: the Max Axle Press, Front Hold, Max Deadlift, Overhead Medley, and Atlas Stones.
Next, Valentin Akimov emerged as the standout, demonstrating balanced strength and consistency across all events. At 36 years old, he combined pressing power, grip endurance, and stone lifting precision to separate himself from the rest of the field.
Then, his closest challenger, David Shamey, proved a formidable rival, pushing him hard in the pressing and medley events. Yet, despite impressive performances, Shamey ultimately fell short by 3.5 points.
Finally, Dmitry Logunov rounded out the podium with heavy pulling and a strong deadlift, but gaps in consistency across other events cost him ground. With this, Akimov claimed the Moscow Sports Night crown.

Front Hold
First, the front hold challenged raw shoulder endurance as athletes extended arms and held weight for time. Here, technique, breathing, and mental toughness mattered as much as strength.

Finally, others struggled to keep up. Lursmanashvili, Kuznetsov, and Valyaev dropped under one minute, and Logunov finished last with only 37.47 seconds.

Max Deadlift
First, the Max Deadlift brought massive weight to the stage, with athletes pushing their lower backs and legs to the limit. Each competitor aimed for their heaviest possible single lift.
Next, Dmitry Logunov put on a pulling clinic, hoisting 380 kilograms and cementing his place as the top deadlifter of the night. Akimov followed closely at 370 kilograms, maintaining consistency to protect his overall lead.
Finally, Shamey faltered here, lifting only 300 kilograms for a joint sixth place. Meanwhile, Makarov and Kuznetsov tied with 320 kilograms, and Valyaev matched them. Lursmanashvili also lifted 300 kilograms but fell short of higher rankings.

Finally, Kuznetsov, Valyaev, and Makarov each managed only one lift, while Lursmanashvili recorded no successful attempt. This event widened the gap between the top two and the rest of the field.
